The Big Birthday Progress Update ✨️


Hi everyone, as it turns out today is my birthday, so to celebrate I'm giving you all the gift of a progress update (woah crazy, I never do these ever)!

First off, thanks for the support for the first SCN title, its been a big motivator to make these updates happen after all this time and it means a lot. I hope that these updates will end up being worth the wait, and that you all will end up enjoying them when the time comes. So with the short intro out of the way, here's the progress update!

To start, I want to keep expectations low for the updates. Most of the changes will be coming from the gameplay and how things work, so don't expect a full rework of the entire game. The most you can expect is some cleaning up of code in the menus and performance. That is not to say there isn't some new stuff planned, but that's a surprise for later so shhh...

For now, lets get some data out of the way. Here's the progress on literally everything in the game:

Mechanics: 95%

Characters: 95%

Menus: 5%

"New" Ultra Mode: 0%

ETC/Secret Stuff: 0%

As you can see, the night itself is pretty much completely playable and is fully working. The current focus is getting the menus done, which shouldn't take too much time hopefully. Even though all the characters are complete and all the mechanics are in place, there is likely to be some balancing and bugfixing, hence is why they both are on 95%. Rest assured, progress is smooth and I am still looking to complete the game by summer.

The good news is that so far the game feels really good to play, and is a huge step up from what FNAF 1 UCN was, at least from my play testing so far. This will probably be subject to change especially once testing rolls around but for now I'm really satisfied with how everything is going along.

Now, on the subject of difficulty...

I'd actually like to make the game's base max mode easier than Ultra's and SL's. For people not playing the game for the max mode the mechanics should be more fluid and forgiving, so the game in general will be easier to play. As for max mode players, expect something like SGF where the base max mode is meant to be decently accessible to all players while still being difficult and hopefully fun to play. In short, I'm keeping SL SCN as the hardest of the 3 SCN titles, so expect the same for FNAF 2 SCN when the time comes.
