Prototype version (0.0.1):
The prototype version of Hank’s Voyage was created between 2nd and 15th of February 2015 as part of the North Games Jam: http://en.gamesjam.org/20/
The prototype was developed in a short amount of time by a team of 3. Due to a shortage of time and resources, sound design was not implemented at all (no music or sfx).
This version features the basic mechanics of the game: Using Hank’s hat as a weapon and/or gadget, basic stealth and platformer gameplay. In this build, there is one playable level that should take 10-20 minutes to beat.
Early Alpha (version 0.1.0):
The early alpha version of Hank’s Voyage was developed between May and July of 2015 as part of the developers’ and artists’ practical training for Kyamk, South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences at Meduusa Game Studio.
The original creators were joined by 2 artists, 1 programmer and 1 sound designer in a team of 7. The game has improved in all the possible ways. There is new original art, introduction of story better UI, original music and sfx, more fluent gameplay and a checkpoint system. The first scroll has been introduced as a gameplay element. There is also a mini-boss and a boss fight.
The game was based on the prototype, developed earlier the same year. According to the development plans, the complete game would consist of 5 differently themed levels. This version features a full first level and should take 45-60 minutes to beat.
Alpha demo (version 0.2.0):
Only one game designer/developer from the original team worked on this version of the game occasionally between 2016 - 2017. The art, music and sfx used are the same that were created by the team of the early alpha version.
The initial plan of having 5 levels has been altered in having 5 worlds instead that consist of many shorter levels. Even though this version of the game does not feature any major changes on the gameplay part, the physics system used for the character and enemies has been updated to a more accurate one. The main purpose of this build is to test the new physics system and the new level length.
The length of the level has changed into much shorter, representing the average level length according to the new design. The available level is 1.1 and it is the tutorial level that teaches the basics to the player. It should take 5-10 minutes to beat it.
Alpha demo (version 0.2.1):
Small fixes on controls and lighting settings.
