The Future of Stefannofornari Games

Hello there, fellow player! Long time no see. This is Stefannofornari, writing another devlog on Gamejolt after five months of disappearence from the website. Sorry for that! However, without further ado, I want to get right to the point of this article:

What is the future of Stefannofornari Games, after three years developing various visual novels that were actually fangames? To answer that question, the first thing I’ll have to do is to explain the story of Stefannofornari Games, quickly. If you don’t want to read it, you can skip these two next paragraphs.

It all started in August 2015, with the release of my first visual novel, based on a popular brazilian youtuber named Cellbit (as you may know, I am brazilian). It had the intention of being a “trash” game, and surprisingly, it was a huge success, being downloaded over 20.000 times as of November 2018. It was followed with numerous sequels until May 2016, when I decided to start making english visual novels based on other properties.

Thus, I released Yandere Simulator: Rise of Evil in June 2016. Although it was a very rushed and disappointing game (I have already expressed my disatisfaction with it lots of times), it was also a gigantic success, being downloaded over 25.000 times, becoming my highest downloaded game as of 2018. It was followed by my first and only Five Nights at Freddy’s visual novel “Survive the Night”. Since then, I have released other games such as Yandere Simulator: The Prequel & The Sequel, Bijuu Mike’s BAKA! Adventure, Midori’s Adventure, and Doki Doki: Episode Natsuki (my most recent game).

Three years passed since the creation of my first visual novel, and as I tried my best to improve with the release of each game, the VNs ‘skyrocketed’ in terms of quality. It has been a long way until I got here, and I could not do it with the immense support I’ve received in this time frame, and I’d like to thank you all.

But now, unfortunately, it is time to move on with the era of fangames.

Stefannofornari Games is changing to only produce original visual novels, and no more fangames based on Yandere Simulator, Doki Doki, and so on.

This was a difficult choice for me, but it was for the best. Making stories based on other properties is something I absolutely love doing due to how I can re-imagine them in lots of different ways while staying truthful to the original source material. But, as you all may know, I can’t keep doing this forever.

I had lots of VN projects in development, such as an entire re-write of the 2017 game “Sonic Forces”, an alternate universe of Undertale named “Colortale”, a prequel of Doki Doki called “Episode Yuri” and a sequel of “Yandere Simulator: Rise of Evil” that would include a remake of the original game as well. Unfortunately… They won’t be in development, anymore. I’m sorry for this.

Right now, I am developing my first original Visual Novel. As of now, its temporary name is “Project Writer”, and it is being developed in RenPy, the same program used for making Doki Doki and various other popular visual novels. I don’t want to share any information about its story and such until it is close to completion, and you’ll see why. I plan to release it on Gamejolt, itch.io and Steam, and for free, just like all my other games. And this time, all of the development reports are being made through my Twitter account, and not through Gamejolt. In case you’re interested, follow my Twitter for development reports: https://twitter.com/StefannoFornari

Unfortunately, it is the end of an era. Stefannofornari Games will live on, but not with fangames. But don’t worry, they won’t ever be removed from Gamejolt, and they’ll be here as long as Gamejolt exists.

Either way, thank you all for the immense support over these years. I hope you all stick around until I release Project Writer in 2019. Don’t worry: It’s going to be greater than what you can expect.
