Last year I started to make the whole game again from scratch (It was only the first chapter so not really a big deal)
Why?
At first I just wanted to upgrade the graphics, overall it wasn´t looking how I wanted it to, so I started messing with lights, lighting settings, etc. and I don't know if it had something to do with a certain package or with a Unity update but...
let's say the project just wasn´t working exactly fine.
Something went wrong with the rendering and I didn't know what to do, most things in the game were just magenta blocks and I started to really think that was the end of the project. But then, I saw an opportunity.
I thought about how some of the 3d models weren´t mine, and didn't have any optimization at all, I thought about how many players had struggles dealing with the mechanics, and also I thought about how messy my code was.
So that's how I decided to remake the whole thing, with my new knowledge and also the story of the game (which has not been revealed but it's being written by me and @_moon ) starting to take a clear direction, I think it was a good choice to remake everything so it adapts to the current situation of the game.
Well, if you are somehow still reading this, I'll give you a little context for the screenshots you saw at the top of this post:
You're playing as Aaron, and living his nightmares.
This first chapter takes place in his house, when he was kid and was in a sleepover with his friend, Matthew (Not in the game yet) waiting for a marathon of their favorite show to start at 3:00 am.
The mask is the antagonist of said show, and it represents a kid's fear of the unknown evil hiding in the darkness.
If you played the old version of the game, here are some diferences in the mechanics:
The window is now replaced by the closet.
You can no longer hide in the blankets, it's replaced with turning the TV off.
The totem no longer exists, it's replaced with Matthew, whom you must keep awake.
The chapter now ends when the clock reaches 3:00 am, but starts at 10:00 pm.
I think that's pretty much it, I'll try to finish this chapter as soon as possible so I can finally work in the second chapter.
