The R.O.O.I.R.S. Multiplayer Progress

Hello everybody! I'd like to start out by saying that getting multiplayer to work is hard. Everything worked fine when it was just one person, but having it replicate across a network is challenging. Non-game devs might have a hard time understanding how getting functions to work correctly for everyone is a very complicated task, but for those who have worked on multiplayer games, then you can understand my struggle.

However, I will add that I almost have all the important stuff working correctly. It has taken me a while, but most gameplay functions are finished. I even ported the player model from One Man Army and that is animated correctly *most* of the time. The big struggle I'm currently facing comes down to checkpoints and resetting the room- there is no easy way to move that over to multiplayer. Concerning the new multiplayer-specific levels, I have barely touched on those. But in my time working on multiplayer, there have been lots of minor improvements I've made that should hopefully make the gameplay experience slightly better.

Will the next update still be focused on adding multiplayer? As of now, that is hard to say. If multiplayer is not completed soon-ish, then I'll just move to working on to a VR mode and hopefully add a developer commentary. All the multiplayer functions will remain for the day that I can get it completed.

It has been a while, so I wanted to update y'all on the progress. Until next time!

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.

Chiaki Nanami!

Shoobies leave a sticky trail of mucus in their wake, which can impede movement for any creature that steps in it.

Out of boredom and curiosity, I coded Sailor Jupiter's Argentine Backbreaker.

Animation test. Not an actaul conclusion to who wins sonic vs Mario. Just a test animation combo.
