the return! (kinda)


it's been a couple months since my last update, but i figured id drop by and give you all a little update on what's been going on behind the scenes.

playtesting for the rewritten update has started and is going very well! despite it being a playtest build, it somehow ended up being WAY less buggy than alpha 1.4! so that's something i can be proud of. i don't have an estimated release date for anything yet, id rather not say anything concrete until im absolutely sure the game will be ready. but i will say the game is shaping up pretty well and is way better than legacy hnr ever was. i did have a little scare recently where my pc nearly bricked and one of my hard drives got wiped, but luckily hnr was on my main drive so we're all good!

i also want to clear up some confusion, you might've noticed people colloquially referring to hnr as "rewritten". this is NOT a new title for the game. this is just the name of the next major update. i stated this in the past but i am fully abandoning the "alpha x.y" naming scheme to prevent confusion with the actual hn alphas. in the past people mistook the name of the game as "pre alpha reborn" or "alpha 1 reborn" and may have been confused as to why alpha 1 didn't feature the alpha 1 house. giving each update it's own name will curb that misconception.

lastly, if you've noticed ive updated the pictures on the gamejolt page again. i want to be clear the lighting was NEVER intended to be as yellow as it was on the old pics. i got a new monitor and my color settings were not exactly accurate, but that has since been fixed! yay!! there will probably be more changes made to the gamejolt page in the future so keep an eye out for that!

was testing out different lightings for fun and im wondering... which of these do we like the best? (5 different lightings with two different angles each so you can compare)

these are not final, im just tryna figure out which direction i should go in

bad news guys, the neighbor lost his job so this will be his house next update

(as a sidenote i have personal beef with whoever did the original uv mapping for this house)

devlog update

updated the logo to be a bit darker to fit with the moody atmposphere of the game, what do we think? (old on the right)

still not finished yet. still working on getting the sky color and brightness exactly how i want it. but how's it lookin so far?

re uvmapped all the background houses so they use hn textures which makes them fit the game a bit more. both the roof and the walls can be changed. i was originally gonna remodel all of them which i still might do at some point. but for now im happy.
