Hi everyone! These past two weeks I barely had time to work on the game because a lot of stuff got in the way (I had to make a big patch for my other game, had like 7 exams, got sick...) but I still tried to work on this game at least a little bit, and this is what I've done so far. It still hasn't been finished yet
The way this mechanic works is pretty simple and somewhat similar to how it was described in the original: If you're being jumpscared, you can click on the "Shake away" button to fight off whoever is trying to attack you. Doing so causes them to fade away (dream logic, I guess) and they return to their original position, and also get a few seconds cooldown before they can start moving again.
Essentially, you can survive jumpscares now! Only two per night though, otherwise it'd be too broken, as you could just use an autoclicker and press the shake away button every frame or so.
It works with all of the characters in the game, except for the Jester and Harold, mainly due to their rather simple mechanics.
Actually, speaking of Harold, I have given him an additional mechanic, and now he went from being a complete joke, to the character that kills me the most ._.
So far only its functionality with Jena has been coded, but I'm sure the others will be done pretty soon. For the most part it's just copypasting code, really, lol
Daisy's health will also decrease if her mood is low or is standing right next to one of her nightmares. Which I actually showed in the video when I stopped moving after Jena moved to the middle
If you don't like this mechanic because you think it makes the game too easy, then here's a tip: Just ignore its existence! It's really easy to do :)
An advice that works pretty well for life in general too.
Once I'm done with the shake away mechanic for the other characters, I'll move on to make Jake's new AI. You might have noticed in the video I've already been experiment with it a little bit. Finally, no more "collect my batteries" ripoff Slenderman stuff. It was so dumb.
Don't worry though, the batteries won't be scrapped, they'll now have the same purpose they had in the original game (filling up your flashlight) but they'll only appear in a specific section of the game.
Oh and, almost forgot to say, Christmas vacation started today for me, so... TIME TO SPEEDRUN DEVELOPMENT
Not until tomorrow though, I wanna take a nap for today...
