The Story and Designs explanation

SPOILERS AHEAD

(Read below)


As it have come to my notice, despite the project existing for over a year, I have NEVER explained the draft for it, so I guess, here we are.

Despite what the URL name suggests, the story and „phase” design has barely any correlation to the FlamesAtGames animation version of disbelief Papyrus, despite it making me think of the idea of creating this fangame (or moreso it was the Cezar Andrade fangame).

The simplified draft for the story is:

  1. Lightners promise to Lancer that they won’t hurt his dad (Chaos King) that badly [which is seen on the way to the Card Castle in the original game by Susie’s response to Lancer’s worries]

  2. The Lightners fight Chaos King, as usual

  3. They defeat him by fighting him

  4. After Ralsei heals Chaos King, and Susie is put down, when Chaos King is shooting a burst of spades, Kris instead of blocking it as in Deltarune dashes forward, slicing through the spades and damaging Chaos King badly

  5. Chaos King, as he was already extremely weakened in health (like seen in the original game) is actually slowly turning into red dust

  6. During it, he takes one more shot at fighting Kris (who btw has 1hp but the attacks are weakened)

  7. After he fully discards (which is based on what „fatal” damage did to Maus in ch2 if snowgrave was used pre-Berdly, Lancer walks in to warn the Fun Gang to hurry up (as this doesn’t happen in pacifist so the inhabitants of the dark world try to breach into the castle like in the actual game)

  8. After noticing his dad’s crown and cape lying on the ground, along with red bits being scattered across the place, he connects the dots (even if this sounds ridiculous considering how usually easy to lie to Lancer is)

  9. As Susie is about to speak up to try to explain to him what have happened, he runs away (to the basement level)

  10. Susie tells Kris to go chase him and calm him down, as he made the incident happen

  11. Kris goes to the elevator to F1 then takes the elevator to the basement

  12. He finds Lancer and so, the rest is up to you…

Phase design stuff:

Phase 1:

Lancer, alone VS. Kris:

In this „phase” you define your ending (by either ACTing or FIGHTing)

Lancer is now capable of using chains along with moving the box, and has access to spikes, as after his dad’s death he becomes the king of this dark world (he still keeps his bike and own spade throw too, though)

As he is aware of the fact that Kris can be a danger to him, he is automatically „warned”, so he is able to dodge (or block with spades) Kris’ base attacks (he learned being warned in his first encounter)

Pacifist has different later attacks, as ACTing in certain ways helps Lancer understand the situation and calm down a lil bit

„Ruthless” ends when you hit Lancer’s bike in a specific attack and reflect it to him, damaging Lancer

Phase 2:

Lancer + Rouxls VS. Kris

After Lancer is hit/calmed down, shortly after, Rouxls Kaard, his „lesser dad” arrives.

In pacifist, this phase is a section where you and Rouxls help Lancer create his „first puzzle” slowly becoming more and more complex until the final version is presented which is a large switch puzzle with attack patterns based on „World’s hardest game”, after that the fight ends

In „ruthless”, this section consists of combined box + beam and box moving puzzle attacks with chains and spades added to it (it’s also rather dynamic)

The phase ends with a mini-game based off of Touhou EOSD (and PCB), where you fight a mini-boss after a short danmaku „survival” section (yes you have a unique amulet and spell card in this)

After the minigame, when Rouxls is about to use his „ULTIMATE Ultimate puzzle” a small white dog steals it from him, after which he gets into a chase with it, after which Susie and Lancer walk down, worried for what’s happening

Phase 3 (Ruthless only):

Lancer + Susie REMATCH vs. Kris + Ralsei (who only heals the player, Susie and Lancer after each turn, he prioretizes the enemies, though)

In this phase, you are forced to first take out Susie (who is mad at you for trying to hurt Lancer, blocking attacks directed at him and reducing damage dealt to her by temporarily DEFENDING) while Ralsei tries to settle the situation unsuccessfully

This phase revolves around fast-paced high DMG attacks, with axes and rude busters added into the moveset (and boxes + beams reduced) oh yeah there’s also healing in the attacks summoned by Ralsei to recompensate

To win, you need to collect as little TP as possible (when the attack style makes it hard to do) to not allow Ralsei to outheal your damage dealt to Susie

After Susie is taken down Ralsei runs away and Lancer is hit with fatal damage using an X-Slash ACT (the attacks in this sub-phase are mainly slow-paced versions of phase 1 arracks) (keep in mind that Susie damaged him badly before in the game, so he can be easily dealt fatal damage)

After being dealt fatal damage, he begins his „last stand” aka „phase 4”

„Phase 4”:

Lancer + downed Susie (not rly) VS. Kris

This section consists of a singular attack, which is yet again, very danmaku like, based on the „Resurrection Butterfly -50% Reflowering” spell card from TH:PCB (and the -80% version in „hardmode”)

After which, another hit is landed, but Susie blocks it, who completely collapses, after which Lancer is turned into red dust.

After that Kris grabs Susie, goes back to the fountain and seals it, leaves the room he is placed in after sealing it, with Susie taking a nap on the floor, after the door is closed, the game ends
