theory of Deltarune: chapter 1 and 2:

So, at the end of chapter 1, we see Kris rip out her soul, throw it in a cage, close it, and turn evil. In the beginning of chapter 2, if you check the cage, it says "when it's closed, it will never open again" or something like that, but THERE IT IS, open, no soul, and a lot of things to go through.

I've watched some YT videos, and the message "The character you want ME to be is not the character I want to be," and I believe this is true, So this means that the soul (player) and Kris are 2 different things, and the soul is controlling Kris. This means that the soul gives disabilities to Kris.

The point? Kris ripped out her soul to TRY to start a genocide run in the dark world, open up the cage, put her soul back in, and she'll feel like nothing ever happened.
