Checkers, also known as Draughts in some countries, is a classic board game played on an 8x8 square board with a total of 64 squares or you can play it online. The board is typically checkered with alternating light and dark squares. Each player starts with 12 pieces, traditionally in black and white colors, placed on the dark squares of the three rows closest to them.
The objective of the game is to capture all the opponent's pieces or block them so they cannot move. Players move their pieces diagonally on the dark squares and can only move forward until their piece is "kinged." This occurs when a piece reaches the farthest row from the player, and it then gains the ability to move both forward and backward.
Capturing an opponent's piece is done by jumping over it diagonally to an adjacent unoccupied square. If a player can make a capture, it is a compulsory move. Multiple jumps are allowed in a single turn if they are immediately available.
Checkers is known for its simplicity yet strategic depth, making it a popular game among people of all ages. It is a game of skill, strategy, and sometimes a bit of luck, enjoyed by millions worldwide.
