These dudes are hating on the game as if that was meant to be a big deal that would bring something new, with some disappointment usually, and I genuinely don't understand these people.
Let's start with the fact that it's a remake. Not a retake or a remaster, just a small remake. And if we're counting it as a remake, it does it's job pretty well: the graphics is awesome, let's just admit it, and the better, more accurate engine, despite not being really useful, still makes the whole experience much less of a pain.
I've heard people speaking about "OoOoOo ThE sAmE wAlKiNg SiM aGaIn OoOoOo ThA gAmE iS bAd OoOoOo!". Buddies, what else could you expect from a remake of the videogame adaptation of the creepypasta, where it was LITERALLY stated about hallway-like levels without obstacles? Like, really. Perhaps they expected GOOD ENDINGS, since most of those who hated on the game were hard NU fans, who probably got used to the story trope where good mortal dudes with forks defeat a literal Cthulhu. I understand, yeah, exe games SHOULD have gameplay that won't rip your ahh apart with it's difficulty while not being that much of a boring walk, yet here we're talking about a remake, a better version of the videogame adaptation of the creepypasta, where, as I already said, it was stated that the game was one hell of a walking sim, and NOT about a retake or some shit like that.
And btw, it actually brought something new besides various other improvements, or, should I rather say, someone - new, canon X - 2011X, who's much better in terms of design, abilities and story. I've heard people crying about his design being basic and even "dumb", but as a counterpoint - WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU EXPECT? Just like the game itself, he's just an improved version of the OG, JC X, and in comparison to the OG, 2011X looks alot better and has a better story while staying kinda accurate to the OG, just improving it here and there and removing all the weird parts with the cult of self-inserts and JC X's weird kind of, let's say, "border control". And that's actually a good character.
And honestly, with all that being said, my point is that this game was made to INTRODUCE the new canon X, to show that the ownership was transferred and that the story and the whole character are changing for the better, but nothing more! People should've expected less from this small remake, but they came in with hopes to see probably the second arrival of Nightmare Beginning (which actually happened, as "Nightmare Beginning Remake", which was actually the same (if not worse) shitass dumbass game with no good story or game design, truly a disgrace for the whole exe community), and when they hadn't saw it, they became furious and started hating on the game.
The big deal, however, may be Soulless Sonic series, which will probably be either a series of games or one big game expanding on the new canon and showing off the characters of the story, properly introducing the new ones and showing more stuff related to the old ones, as well as showing relationships between these, as well as expanding more on the canon X, who will eventually become Lord X. The game already took around 4-5 years, yet I still believe in Joe, since from what we can see on his Bluesky account, he's not planning to cancel the game at least in near future, so let's let him and his team take their time to finish, and just wait for them to release it.
That was my point. In a result, you may actually understand why in my opinion all the hate towards the official remake wasn't justified, cya later
