Well, put lightly—yes. Development has returned... but not really.
As for DELTARUNE: Internal Demons, development is still canceled. What’s returning is development itself, starting fresh as a new IP/project.
I'm working on a new RPG called Dust Matters — "just a silly open-world RPG game: you vs. the big bad evil."
That said, DRID is kind of living on through this. A lot of what it had—sprite work, writing, music, etc.—has been cut, but I still have a vision for how I want that story to unfold.
If you haven’t read the previous pinned post, the reason DRID wasn’t continued comes down to a mix of things. Mainly, I take the blame. I failed to lead and prioritize what needed to be done.
A big part of that was the writing—so many vague ideas that never got fleshed out, and conflicting visions of how the game should run.
Another part was the art. Honestly, I still feel bad about it. I feel like I let down a lot of people who had real passion for the project. So many hours went into art and assets that never got used or shown off. That’s also why I didn’t make much of DRID public—characters, story, visuals—because deep down I knew I might return to it when I had a clearer vision.
If you were a team member on DRID and you're reading this: I’m sorry if it felt like I wasted your time. I knew there was a real chance I’d cancel it, even back then.
So now, moving forward with Dust Matters, I want to avoid the mistakes I made in the past. For now, I have no plans to take on artwork—aside from basic character concepts or public stuff like thumbnails.
If you were interested in DRID, it would mean a lot to me if you followed the new gamejolt page for Dust Matters:
