Hello everyone,
On Tuesday I received an email from Google. The email stated that they had removed the demo of Twin Moon Galaxy from the Play Store due to trademark infringement. Turns out there is a game called “Twin Moons” and the company that developed it owns the trademark.
I tried to appeal the removal directly with Google because even though there is a trademark for “Twin Moons”, it was only registered in 2015. I have been using the title “Twin Moon Galaxy” since 2009 so I should have the right to continue using it as U.S. law is based on first-use. However, Google denied the appeal and said I should work it out with the complainant.
Although I could potentially win my case to use the title in the U.S. I would have more trouble in other countries since many countries don’t consider first-use and only consider trademark registration. Therefore, I have decided to let go of the title and rename the game.
I haven’t decided on the new title for the game yet. Before this happened, I was working on a new trailer of the game to showcase locations from the other chapters. I will be revealing the new title of the game when the trailer is ready.
