Undertale Icebound DEVLOG #6 - Anniversary Special


Hey all! Been a hot minute, huh? Worry not, for we have some goodies to help tide you over, at least for a while. Before we begin, we'd like to wish Undertale a great 9th anniversary, as well as thank one of our talented artists Ner for creating the amazing post/concept art you can see as the header of the post!! With that being said, let's jump in.

AREA INTRODUCTION - AZURE ALCAZAR

Woah, new area. Cool, right? Anyway, Azure Alcazar is a long forgotten, formally populated ruin hidden deep in Waterfall that has been reconverted into a refuge for Waterfall's own populace, alongside some Snowdin Monsters who survived the travel through. Undyne takes charge of the place, though with the Royal Guard effectively dissolved, she has taken a more laidback and casual approach to taking care of who remains. The space has proven to be incredibly susceptible to a phenomenon known as "Fractures", which makes the area look distorted and broken in parts.

Our main inspirations for this area come from many a source, namely Ocean Palace from Sonic Heroes, and some of the Trials of the Nine elements from Destiny 2. There's a full version of the concept art at the bottom of the post for your viewing pleasure created by one of our talented artists Ner.

SNOWDIN OVERHAUL

Snowdin has recieved some major glowups in terms of looks. There's a lot more detail and a bit more to see and interact with than the previous iteration. We still have some plans to expand the area a little bit more in the future ;3

BATTLE PREVIEW - FLOWEY

The title is technically a lie, this isn't really a 'preview' of the Flowey battle. In fact, its the entire fight for all to enjoy, as well as to give you a better taste of what to expect later down the line. You can find the link to the video below :3

OST UPLOADS

As per devlog tradition, we have a couple OST uploads ready to send out. Don't expect a crazy new battle theme like Trailblazer this time, though. We gotta keep a lot of the good stuff a surprise, after all. You can find the links to them below, and youtibe uploads of them will be released during the following week.

OVERALL PROJECT PROGRESS

If you're aware of how we develop the game, then you'd know that we like to take things at our own pace. That being said (and as you've probably seen already) some rooms of Azure Alcazar are finished, while Flowey's battle is completed. Everything after that has been worked on in little bits, as well as at different points in the story. Azure Alcazar progress post-Flowey is going nicely but slowly, as with other aspects of the game.

We also decided that instead of releasing devlogs at a set time, we would just release them whenever we felt like we had enough of the game to show that wouldn't show major spoilers. That's why we haven't been able to say much since the UnderEvent devlog - there's not enough content to show you that's worth writing up an entire essay on. Moreover, this devlog in itself was cut in half - our original plans were to show off more of the tail end of this segment of the game but the stars just couldn't align for us to do that. Said content will be moved to another devlog in the future. We look forward to seeing you there!!

DEVLOG #4 - UNDEREVENT/XMAS SPECIAL

have been experimenting with my drawing style a slight bit. So here's a new Undyne drawing

We have released a 32bit version of the game. A fullscreen patch will be available soon! Edit: 32bit version has been temporarely privated due to an issue with it. We're looking into it!
