10 years.... a decade of a game that changed our lives forever.
It's UNDERTALE's 10th anniversary.... in a couple days! (We didn't want to overlap any official news.) This devlog may be a bit on the shorter side, as it hasn't been too long since our last update - but how could we miss UNDERTALE's 10th anniversary? To celebrate the occasion, we'll be giving you estimates on our progress - just like we did for last year's anniversary!
Undertale Plus Estimated Development Progress
Last year, we gave percentages for each area of the mod estimating their completion. The project has gone through a lot of changes since then, and we're excited to show you all what we've been cooking.
So, let's update those percentages, shall we?
60 FPS - 100%
Implementation of the 60 FPS mode has been entirely completed! You can now play UNDERTALE in its entirety at a smoother framerate.
Widescreen - ~10%
Currently, you can play through the entirety of the RUINS in widescreen, with Snowdin getting started. A team member has been assigned completion of widescreen as their main task, and after implementing a new tiling method, development has heavily sped up.
Achievements - ~50%
All original UNDERTALE achievements have been reimplemented, with UI elements. Undertale Plus specific achievements will be implemented closer towards release.
Save Files - 100%
Like in DELTARUNE, you can use multiple save files at once - unlike DELTARUNE however, you can have as many as you like! This system is completely implemented into the game!
Undertale Plus Remixes - ~10%
As stated in our previous devlog, the music department has undergone a major revision, and progress has been smooth sailing from there. Quite a few tracks are done already, with many big ones currently in the works!
Extras - ~33%
The "Extras" menu will contain content such as Achievements, the Music Player, an Ending Tracker, and more. Programming for all of these is well underway, but some functionality and UI elements are still work-in-progress.
Colored Sprites - 80%
After the revision of the sprite department, progress for Colored Sprites has been speedy! Colored Sprites are currently the top priority for our sprite department, and once completed, work will continue for other graphic aspects.
Title Screen - ~50%
The central hub of Undertale Plus is almost halfway complete! Functionality and navigation is all but completed, while visual aspects of the menu are still a heavy work-in-progress.
Settings - 50% done
More than half of Undertale Plus' settings are complete! There's still a few Settings that haven't been implemented, these shouldn't take much longer to develop compared to the other ones though. Programming is mainly focused right now on tasks that would be more difficult and time consuming.
Translation - ~5%
Integration with UNDERTALE's localization system has been all but completed, and while 8-4 has translated the entirety of base UNDERTALE, our translator is just getting started on localizing Undertale Plus' text.
A lot of these percentages are rough estimates and may be deceptive at times, as game development can be pretty daunting. We plan on being transparent with development progress going forward, so you can expect to see updates in all of these areas soon!
