Hello? Is this thing on?
Uhh, welcome to our monthly devlog! We'll now be sharing monthly dev updates on what the Undertale Plus team has accomplished and things we're excited to show off!
We'll try not to get too spoilery, I'm sure people will like to see stuff, especially sprites, in their first experience playing the game. So we'll try to keep things at a minimum, but provide enough info so people know what we're up to!
Multiple Save Files are now working!
...and a death counter that still has a placeholder texture...
it won't be Sans in the final release okay
You may be curious to the benefit of this. Well Cibles, along with playtesters, have been doing a lot of Speedruns on Plus and Multiple Save Files have worked wonders for that!
Y'see, the amount of Save Files you can have at one time are...
...infinite
So you can just create endless save files over and over without impacting each other.
This is something that not even Deltarune achieved. Which granted, was probably an intentional game design decision, but y'know this is a mod so all traditional rules are out the window
What's cool about the Save File system is when you hover over a Save File, the background characters and music adapt to which one you're currently hovered over. So for example, if one is at the end of True Pacifist, you'll get the background for True Pacifist when hovered over that Save File. If one's on Geno, you'll get the Geno background when you're hovered over it.
Of course, just like everything in this mod, if you're not into the whole "Multiple Save Files" thing or Death Counter, it can be turned off in Settings. It'll default to off as well, so you'll have to turn it on manually when you first load up the game unlike other settings that are on by default.
The other screenshot is of the Deltarune battles! Still very early in development, but hey, no more placeholder sprites for Frisk!
You may be wondering why they aren't holding a weapon. Well, those sprites are still being worked on! Turns out having to sprite every weapon in the game for Deltarune battles and their animations take a long time. However, progress is progress :3
That's all for now, next month we'll release another devlog to show more progress! Keep in mind that there's more stuff being worked on than what's being shown here, so if this progress doesn't seem like a lot, there's still stuff we're choosing not to show off.
I refuse to admit how long we've been redesigning the running sprites...
