Undertale: Test of Fears : Progress Report – 2

Hello everyone!

We’re back with another update on Undertale: Test of Fears! We’ve made some good progress, but we’ve also hit a major roadblock that we need help overcoming. More on that later—first, let’s talk about what we’ve been working on.

Concept Art & Character Design

Visual development is one of our strongest areas right now. Here are some highlights from our latest concept art:

  • Exploring the Early Areas

Here are some screenshots from a test room for the Ruins, as well as one of the very first areas in the game. While these are still early versions, they help us establish the atmosphere and gameplay flow.

  • Battle System & UI Progress

We've been working really hard on the battle UI, the battle backgrounds, and refining the battle system itself. A lot of thought is going into making sure everything feels smooth, immersive, and true to the Undertale spirit. We truly hope you’ll like what we’re building !

  • Sewer Monsters & Encounters

As Ember ventures through the sewers, she’ll face a variety of monsters lurking in the shadows. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the creatures you’ll encounter along the way .

  • Sewer Puzzle Concept

We want the Sewer to have engaging puzzles that fit the environment. One of our ideas is a pipe and water puzzle, where you’ll need to redirect the water flow to unlock doors and progress. Here’s a concept of how it could work—let us know what you think !

  • Beyond the Sewers...

While our main focus right now is on the Sewer area, we already have plans for what comes next! Here’s a concept art for the area beyond the sewers—but we’ll keep the details under wraps for now. Just know that we’re designing the world with the full game in mind!

Soundtrack Progress

Music plays a huge role in setting the atmosphere of UTTOF, and we’ve been working on some new tracks to bring the world to life.

Here are a few original OSTs we’re excited to share:

The Big Roadblock: Coding & Programming

Now, let’s talk about the biggest challenge we’re facing: we don’t have a programmer.

We’ve made significant progress in terms of story, art, and music, but to move forward, we need to break through the wall of code that’s currently blocking us. Without a developer, we can’t implement mechanics, battles, or interactions—essentially, we can’t bring the game to life.

If you’re a programmer (or know someone who might be interested), we’d love to have you on board. Whether you have experience with GameMaker, Unity, or any engine that could work for an Undertale-style game, we’d love to discuss and see if we can work together.

Next Steps

  • Recruiting a programmer – Our top priority right now.

  • Expanding character animations – More battle and interaction sprites.

  • Finalizing early-game story beats – Refining dialogue, pacing, and event flow.

  • Testing music integration – Ensuring tracks fit key moments in the game

We want to thank everyone for following and supporting UTTOF. Your enthusiasm keeps us going, and we’re determined to push forward. If you’re interested in helping with programming or just want to share your thoughts, feel free to reach out.

See you in the next update.

Shoobies leave a sticky trail of mucus in their wake, which can impede movement for any creature that steps in it.
