It was a really fun weekend. Hard, with a lot of work, some unexpected bugs (a LOT of expected ones), design changes without any prior notice.
At first I was completely shocked with the theme. “Fringe”. As a spanish i never heard this word outside the pretty cool TV series. So I started looking for definitions and dictionaries, they where a lot of different ones too abstract or too precise. Finally I ended up making my own concept mixing a lot of theme.
Even after that, with the idea of the original narration in mind, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, so I started experimenting with the programming on my recently acquired GameMaker Studio 2 (I wasn’t habituated so at first things were really slow).
After creating what is now the “main menu”, everything fitted in my mind and I understood what was my intention with the game, even before planning every level or deciding what the mechanics will do. Although, it seemed like every step further was already planned in my subconscious.
After 72 hours (with a pause for going to my day job) I ended up with this weird experiment that, I believe, make sense.
I want to thank my girlfriend who has supported me during this long weekend and help me with some of the writing.
I’m looking forward for any feedback you want to give because i’m eager to learn to be a better game designer, and, especially I would love that you enjoy Untitled nº 6.543.299.712
