Update 0.3 Releases July 18th!

Update 0.3 will release around 4:00 PM EST today (July 18th)!

First off, I apologize for the lack of updates in the past few days. I can honestly say, however, that it’s simply been due to all the work I’ve put in developing the game. As I mentioned at the beginning of all this, I’m the lone developer on the game, and my PR guy Tim has been super busy with the day job as of late, so trying to juggle between my own day job, making the game, and handling social media gets… well, a little busy!

But enough of that, let’s get straight to what’s new! And boy, is there quite a bit. To begin, we’ve added several new locations, including the park, cemetery, and an old, abandoned house. We’ve also fleshed out the main quest more with two major quest events (and six possible divergent paths) included in the demo. This also brings two new puzzles, some interesting new character interactions, and a proper introduction to all the main antagonists of the game.

In addition to new content, we’ve also spruced up a few things, including adding more things that you can investigate, meaningful door investigations on some of the doors (to tell you where they lead), and some minor bugfixes. The game plays quite smoothly now with either mouse, keyboard, or gamepad.

The game is finally getting a little bit more of that “creepy” feeling, too, but only for those that really want to go down that road. There’s a lot of flexibility in how you approach the mystery of Woodfall.

We also added one side quest. If you want to complete it you’ll have to make some specific choices at Marty’s and solve the “Pole Puzzle” sitting out behind the Inn. There will be 8 side quests in total when the game is finished, a nice embellishment that we’re really looking forward to adding.

So, where do we go from here? This will be the last major update to the free demo, and quite possibly the last ever. That’s because from here on we’re entering the phase of final production. The game should be finished sometime in August, but we’re going to spend several weeks in quality assurance and marketing before releasing in September. During that time we’ll make regular updates through the devlog on Gamejolt to let you all know what’s going on and what we’re doing.

Obviously, marketing is getting ready to be extremely important. If you’re not aware, releasing a game is practically useless today without ensuring that it gets covered by at least a few relatively major reviewers. Having already released two games on Steam, I know a thing or two about that from experience. We do have some cool announcements coming up, and we’ll make sure to post those here as they happen.

Thanks again for your support and enjoy update 0.3!
