[UPDATE 0.8.0] Change log: Find and unlock all ships and rewards redesign


Game Design & Content

  • New ship to be found!

  • When you power up and switch to a disabled ship you will unlock them to be played through at the start. Have fun finding and unlocking new ships!

  • Entirely reworked the rewards system to encourage using time as a currency and exploration. Read more here.

  • Something else exists in all systems now... finding and destroying it may benefit you.

  • Chris has put together a new game play soundtrack that will slowly ramp up as a game play session progresses adding to the intensity.

Polish

  • New trail effects on most ships (will eventually get these on all ships but it's trickier for some)

  • Added more depth to closer planets.

  • Small debris can be pushed around in space by your ship... just for fun :).

  • Updated planet shield visuals

  • More visual juice to upgrading!

  • New ship selection UI with a showcase of the ship's ability

Balance

  • Napalm enemies are slightly squishier.

  • Hostile fleets moving through a system now have some defenses... be cautious.

  • The number of citizens you need to rescue has increased to 300. Changes with rewards made it a bit too easy to hit the 200 mark, also I am aiming for "regions" to be about a 30 minute play session. Players were either winning or losing around the 20-24 minute mark and I wanted to extend that some to have more opportunity to explore and progress within the region.

  • Added a bit of random variance to the spawning of enemy carriers. Not a lot but enough to make it less predictable after many play sessions.

  • The Foxxxl no longer boost with Barrel Roll. To try and keep ship identities unique I've removed this effect from Barrel Roll. To compensate the Foxxxl ship is by-far the fastest ship overall.

  • Added a tiny bit of aim assistance. This is mostly in preparation for Gamepad support, which I'm working on, as it's very difficult to get precise aiming with any gamepad. I will probably add an option to turn this off for keyboard users in the future.

  • A few waves of enemies have been rebalanced a bit.

  • Carriers will initially try to target different planets than other carriers. If there's only one planet that's able to be targeted it'll go for that one but if possible it'll try to split up the work.
