Update on Fnaf VR Fangames (Fnaf 4 VR, SL VR, FFPS VR, UCN VR, and SB Fury's Rage VR)
Future plans for the games + Roadmap + FAQ

Hello everyone, I wanted to make an announcement regarding the plan for the Fnaf VR fangames, give a roadmap on development, as well as answer a lot of frequently asked questions regarding the games.

TLDR: Fnaf 4 VR, an Update to SL VR, Remake of FFPS VR, UCN VR, and SB Fury's Rage VR will be released during 2021.

Future Plans for the Games:

My main goal currently is to recreate all of the original Fnaf games that don’t have a VR remake(Fnaf 4, Fnaf SL, FFPS, UCN), into a true to original VR game as well as have it visually look as realistic as possible. Currently, Fnaf SL and FFPS have VR remakes, however, I am not fully satisfied with the games. Fnaf SL VR I feel can visually be better and FFPS VR doesn’t serve as a good remake without the original game’s tycoon portion.

  • Fnaf SL VR will be getting an update to have the same graphics as UCN VR and Fnaf 4 VR, implementing graphical improvements such as better shadows, volumetric lighting, and more refined Post-Processing.

  • For FFPS VR, I will be remaking it again this time with the plan to add everything from the original game. This includes the tycoon portion, minigames, endings, etc. The game will also get a major graphics update.

  • After the recent release of Fnaf: Security Breach Fury’s Rage, I was thinking of releasing a small game where I take the original Fury's Rage, reprogram it into an Arcade machine, and have users play it in VR. I’ll also try to see if I can make it for the Oculus Quest as I think the system might be able to run it.

  • UCN VR’s development will be delayed into the summer. Currently, there are a few animators who are volunteering in animation and I want to give them as much time as possible. I don’t want to over-stress them with work as many of them have to also deal with school/work outside of animation. As such, the development will mainly take place during the summertime when most of us are free from school or work.

  • Fnaf 4 VR will be the final VR Fnaf game from me so I plan on it finishing this series with a bang While a bit smaller than UCN VR, it will take much more time to develop. I expect it to be released at the end of this year. For more info on time regarding the developments of the game, you can check out the road map below.

If you want to help volunteer with animation, you can apply through this google form. I am only accepting people with a large amount of experience and quality similar to the animation shown in games such as UCN VR or Fnaf SL VR. You will need to know how to animate with or without IK rigs, be able to at the minimum create walk/running cycles, and use 3D animation software that can export the animation as an FBX file.

Development Roadmap:

I plan to have all these games finished by the end of 2021. There might be some additional delays but this is my main goal. Below is the main time frame for development.

May - June:
Fnaf SL VR will be getting an update to its graphics and work on FFPS VR and Security Breach Fury’s Rage VR will start. Development might slow down a bit while I focus on my other game, Attack on Reality. However, I expect to finish most, if not all, of FFPS VR and Fury’s Rage VR.

July - August:
FFPS VR and Fury’s Rage VR should be finished by mid-July. The development will be slow as animators work on UCN VR animations while I work on the next update for Attack on Reality. All of the UCN VR animations should be done by the end of August as well as most of the programming for the game’s AI.

September - October:
UCN VR should be done by September, and development for Fnaf 4 VR will start by the end of the month. The main focus will be on finishing up models as well as animations for the characters if not already done. Programming for certain parts of the game will also be added but my main focus will be on finishing the second update for Attack on Reality.

November + December:
These will be the final two months of development for Fnaf 4 VR. Animations will most likely be done by mid-November and the game should be finished by the end of December.

This schedule may be subject to change as goals could be met sooner or later than expected. However, this should serve as the main roadmap for development.

FAQ:

Q: Will the games have Non-VR support?
A: No, this has been asked a lot but I will not have nor will I allow Non-VR versions of these games. The main purpose of these games is to be a VR remake of the originals.
They are carbon copies of the original games. Fnaf 4 and Fnaf SL are paid games, and taking these paid games, fully recreating them so that they are the same, but in 3D, and posting it onto GameJolt for free is the same as pirating the game. People would just not buy the originals and download the free version on GameJolt. For VR though, you need to actually buy a headset to play the games, which is much more expensive than just buying the original. The only difference between these VR games and the original is that one is made with VR in mind while the other isn’t.

Q: Will the games have Oculus Quest support?
A: Most likely not.
Some members of the Discord server are trying to make Fnaf SL VR be compatible with the Quest, though it will require huge optimizations to the game, replacing SteamVR’s SDK with Oculus’s VR SDK, and then reprogramming all interactions and mechanics that previously used SteamVR’s SDK. This goes for all games except Security Breach Fury’s Rage VR as that game has very small VR interaction and graphically/size wise should be able to fit for a Quest headset.

Q: Will the games be on Playstation VR?
A: No, because I do not have the legal approval from Scott Cawthon to put these fan games onto a major store page such as the Playstation store (same goes with Steam), and as such, I can’t develop them for PSVR.

Q: Will you be adding anything outside of the original games such as custom characters?
A: I’ve only been asked this like once or twice but this is a pretty big question regarding how the games will actually play out. While I plan on the games being pretty much a carbon copy, there will be some design changes to either mechanics, cutscenes, or AI to fit the needs of VR.

For example, I may add some additional scenes for cutscenes to make them feel more immersive when in VR (such as the Night 3 cutscene in Fnaf SL VR). I might adjust how certain AI work such as Nightmare Mangle, Nightmare Bonnie, and Circus Baby in UCN VR wherein the original you could use a technique called Camera stalling. Recreating that technique in VR in my opinion wouldn’t go well since movement is in Realtime and visuals are not baked into images which is why when in-game, each animatronic will move slowly towards the door giving and will emit different sounds which the player can listen to and know what plush toy to buy.

These are just some examples of changes/additions made for the games, but everything will mostly stay the same as the original.

Endnotes:

That is pretty much all for this announcement. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments or in the games Discord server. You can follow the games on GameJolt, they will be posted onto Itch and SideQuest though I will mainly be posting updates on GameJolt.
