Update on where I've been.

Greetings, my friends!

This is LukeyC116 back with another announcement. And probably, a very long one at best. So, I'm sure most of you (including my friends) have been wondering where I've been and what's been going on in terms of the development of AWaB1. Well sadly, I've not been staying on track, recently. Mainly because of computer troubles, slacking off, personal things and, interestingly, a tornado. (But, more on that later.) First things first, My computer has been acting up recently. It works and boots, but the backup drive just won't function properly. it's hard for me to explain, but I'll try my best. my computer has 2 drives built into it, a C: drive (the main drive), and a D: drive (a backup drive, which is where I've been keeping my project files in.) the C: drive works like it should, but whenever I try to open one of my projects in the editor, leave a project open for too long, load or move a very big file, the D: drive just suddenly ejects and unejects itself and (if I do any of the first 2 things) causes the editor to show an error message and crash. And it's been doing this for a long time, now. Probably since, I think, sometime last year. And I'm worried if it keeps this up, the backup drive will eventually fail, and I'll lose everything and have to start all over again. Although, this is not the only issue I've been struggling with. I've also been having problems with the serial number being invalid, which apparently, based on what me and my mom have been told after sending it to the geek squad sometime last year, is a common problem on Lenovo computers. This not only prevents the computer from being able to complete diagnostic repairs, but also causes it to make 2 short beeps, and then show a error screen for a few seconds before booting up. We've recently had to replace the RAM on it last year after the RAM failed and caused the computer to stop booting up at all, and instead, make beeping sounds for a few minutes, and overall, render the computer completely unusable. Thankfully, replacing the RAM fixed the problem. It also doesn't save custom home screen wallpapers and will constantly change it to a black screen unless I either keep the wallpaper image on my downloads folder (basically, not deleting it at all) or restart explorer.exe. I've told my parents about most of the issues I've just described, and my dad has decided to get in touch with a professional computer technician, who recommends rebuilding the whole thing instead of throwing it away as he thinks it's still fixable. But, we first have to find a way to save all of my stuff before doing any of that. Even though I prefer replacing it, I just hope this works out for us. And by the way, even though I haven't been staying on schedule, I've still been doing occasional work on AWaB1. (For example: artwork, map designing, coding, and even the storyline (in my head, at least) Though, trying to make progress on the game is a bit difficult due to the whole hard drive ejecting problem, But I'm still working on it! Anyways, moving on the more significant part of this whole post, the tornado. In March of 2025 (which was, basically, last year), my family flew to Houston (a major city the U.S. state of Texas) to visit my dad's family, and I had to stay at my grandparent's house in Tylertown (a small city in Walthall County, Mississippi.) and on the 13th (Thursday), the Storm Prediction Center (or the SPC) had issued a moderate risk for severe weather for the 14th (Friday), and a high risk for the 15th (Saturday). and I was really worried about it. I remember telling both my grandparents and my mom about it, but they just told me not to worry about it and assured me everything would be fine. However, on Friday night, I looked at the Wikipedia's page for tornadoes of that year, expecting to see information on the incoming outbreak, and it said there were tornadoes reported that night, but none for us. at least, not that night. the next morning, I woke up and saw the sky was really cloudy outside. I remember as I was sitting on the floor with the MacBook watching some YouTube, it was just constant, hard, on and off raining and thundering. And, that got me really worried. Eventually, I lost internet connection and decided to walk into the living room to see what my grandparents were doing. and as I sat down on the couch, my grandfather turned on the TV to look at the news. and the first thing the weatherman said was "Tornado emergency for Society Hill" after that, the signal was lost. and, just like before, it rained a lot for a while, and then died down a bit. This, apparently, made my grandparents think it was over. but, when I looked outside, I saw this super fast moving band of wind and rain blowing all of the tables and chairs near the pool over. and, my grandfather actually ducked down when this happened. After this, I ran into the kitchen out of fear, only to hear my grandmother say "Get away from the windows!" so, I ran back out towards the bathroom to at least try to get to safety. And as I was doing so, the power went out, and I could hear the tornado roaring outside. Eventually, I made it to the tub and ducked down, but after that, it was just silence. When it was all over, I grabbed my iPad, jumped onto the Grizzly, and drove around filming all the damage I could with little battery life I had. By the time I was done, the sun started showing and the clouds went away. Though, I did manage to get a glimpse of the one of supercells off in the distance racing towards the Mississippi-Alabama border. Thankfully, we didn't have much damage at our place. But, we did have some trees knocked down. Apparently, my grandmother had a row of apartments a couple blocks from her house that she uses as a source of income, and that got damaged really bad. Her neighbors (most of them I didn't even know) also got some damage as well. I remember one of the places we went out to in the moments following the tornado was a house whose owners suffered shingle losses, and had some ears popped. (Thankfully, none of us had any popped ears!) Moving on to the next day, my grandmother began driving me to my mother. (because, usually, when we get ready to leave, we just meet up miles from the house. basically, just a drop-off.) As we began leaving for the highway, we passed by a neighbor's house and some some damage there. But, it got worse once we hit the highway. As we were driving down route 98, we saw extensive damage from where the first tornado passed by us the day before. it turns out, there were actually 2 tornadoes that came through the area that day. the first one was a monstrous EF-4 which had a peak wind speed of about 170 MPH, had a peak width of about 0.8 miles and left a path more than 67 miles long from Kentwood, Louisiana to Carson, MS. The other one was apparently the one that created the damage we got, and that one was an EF-3 with 140 MPH winds, and it tracked 26 miles over the course of 30 minutes. The EF-4 apparently touched down near the southeastern part Louisiana-Mississippi border, caused some EF-1 damage to Kentwood, LA, then entered into MS, which is where it reached it's peak intensity. After passing by Tylertown, it struck a small mobile home park called Bethlehem Loop near Darbun. It completely trashed the mobile home park and killed 3 people there, a 7-year-old boy, and a couple who lived in a mobile home across the street from where the boy was killed. after that, it entered Jefferson Davis county, and killed 2-3 more people there (2-3 because the news and meteorologists created discrepancies with the death toll of the 2 tornadoes) before dissipating after being on the ground for an hour and 22 minutes. Crazy, I know! But, that's how long they say it was on the ground for. I don't remember ever hearing a tornado siren at all throughout the whole ordeal. But apparently, from what meemee (or my grandmother to be more precise) has told me, wouldn't have been enough as it all happened way to quickly. And while I'm not entirely sure if that is the case, but it did happen very quickly. Though, to be fair, you can't just rely on sirens alone as a warning as ABC 33/40 meteorologist James Spann said in an interview on the 2011 Super Outbreak. Because those sirens are designed to reach a certain number of people. I also didn't even get to see either tornado nor did I capture any footage of them, but others did. All I have are some damage photos and videos that I took following the whole disaster. I could show them now, but I don't feel ready to do that just yet. I'm thinking it would be better to include them at the end of the game as a tribute to people who died. Speaking of which, 43 people died during the outbreak. 6 of them where in my state, and were all from just those 2 tornadoes. Ironically, in the days before the outbreak, I was watching dozens of tornado videos on the TV with my grandparents, because at that time (and even a long time before my family's trip to Houston), I had an big interest in weather. But now, my attention has focused towards other things (Like trucks, FNaF, trains, tractors, and of course, large construction and mining equipment.) But knowing me, my interest could go towards weather again some time soon. Overall, it was a not a pleasant experience at all. I was really scared, I actually thought I was going to die. But thankfully, I somehow didn't. I've had tornadoes up at my house before, and none of them became violent like these 2 did. They all just touched down, and then just dissipated shortly afterwards. so, this could be my first real tornado, and I hope it'll be my last. I also should mention none of the 2 tornadoes ever came close to downtown Tylertown, as I saw little to no damage there at any point. Although, following the tornado, on the next trip to my grandparents house that same month, we drove around with my mother and grandmother and drove in and around the damaged areas and filmed what we saw. Even driving to that same mobile park I mentioned earlier, and the damage there was so bad, even meemee was stunned. Although, I wasn't that affected by seeing the damage. Maybe because of all of those tornado videos I watched over the years and the knowledge I've gained from that has desensitized me to the whole thing. But I kind of feel bad about not being shocked about the damage because these were people's valuable possessions and livelihoods. and for that reason, not feeling bad about it would be disrespectful. Maybe it isn't, but still. "Items can be replaced, but human lives can't." is what they say, and this outbreak is proof of that. Thankfully, From what I've seen since then, all of the damage is slowly starting to disappear. Which is the best part about all of this. As for meemee and papa, they had to hire a bulldozer crew to remove all the trees located to the right of their house in an attempt to "salvage" what they could. the EF-3 also blew a tree down onto one of the 2 deer stands in that part of the yard, crushing it. And that had to be bulldozed as well, unfortunately. But, we still have one deer stand left, which is great for my uncle, as he uses those stands to snipe deer from. Before I close this off, I would like to thank all of the meteorologists, storm chasers and forecasters for doing their part during the entirety of this outbreak. Even though 43 people died, they still did their best to save people, and that's the best kind of spirit when it comes to weather like this. Kudos to them! Anyways, I guess as a reward for tuning in, I'll post some of the artwork I've made recently (whatever you're supposed to call it.) Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and until next time, this is LukeyC116, and I'll see you whenever the demo comes out. Bye!

P.S. Condolences to the families of the 43 victims who died.

Also, I've come up with a nickname for the 2 tornadoes: Big Cloud #1 and Big Cloud #2 ;)

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!
