Update Patch 0.2.4


So, this is the most comprehensive patch since 0.1.0, that feels stangs to say as I’ve felt each update shaped the game, but honestly, this has moulded the game into what it can and will become. The reason this is 0.2.4 & not 0.2.0 is because it seemed more sensible to release the most stable version than roll out every version up to this point, so It’s refreshing to say this, but after 7 months I present to you Not Another Platformer 0.2.4.

  • Changed How The Menu Works

  • Redacted SinglePlayer Button (Not Needed Until Ready)

  • Added Levels

  • Added New Music

  • Fixed The Pesky 0.1.5 Wall Glitch

  • Added Borderless Windowed (Again)

  • Altered The Enemies (Now Ghosts)

  • Changed the Way Platforms Work (No More Dirty Code)

  • Altered The Way Bob Jumps (Default One Block, Double Two Blocks)

  • Altered the Way Death Is Handled

  • Added in Checkpoints (Hurray! No More Level Restarts) [See Below For How They Work]

  • Fixed the Continue Button

  • Added Developer Shortcuts (In case Anything Needs Quickly Testing)

  • Altered The Way The Player’s Variables Are Set (Now A Script, Easy Editing)

  • Overhauled The Stone Texture (More To Come)

  • Added Chains (Level Decor)

  • Removed Water (Couldn’t Find A Purpose & To Complexe)

  • Removed The Background In Favour Of Black (No More Confusion About Pickups)

  • Altered Checkpoint Sprite

Oh My God! That was a HUGE changelog, nearly every aspect of the game has been altered. Now I feel like I’m missing out something, like something really big. I remember it being Discord related… Oh yeah, I remember now. I’ve FINALLY ADDED DISCORD RICH PRESENCE!!! This has been a goal since the very beginning of Not Another Platformer, to be able to see when people play and to have sweet discord integration has always been a goal & FINALLY I have achieved it!

And finally, after that sneaky announcement, onto the developer shortcuts. When on the main menu if you hold down the left ALT key and press any number on the numpad, ranging from 1 - 5 you will teleport to the corresponding tutorial level. Also if you press Numpad 7, it force saves the game & to partner with this, when you press Numpad 9 it restart from the last checkpoint/level, depending on whether any checkpoints have been activated.

So the way checkpoints work is that if you have one activated when you die you respawn there. Whereas if no checkpoint has been activated, you will restart at the start of the level. This is done by clearing the checkpoint/level variables when you enter a new room & replacing them. So if you die in the enemy level, you will respawn inside that level.
