Howdy folks!
I said in a previous devlog that I was considering making another patch to the old multiplayer demo, but soon after that I decided to instead focus on continuing work on Chapter 1. However, I’ve found a bit of extra time to work on the new patch with the features I promised, in addition to some important bug fixes, and since it’ll be the last day of the year why not end it with a bang?
The new patch will release tomorrow, and I can confirm it will be the last ever release for the old demo, as it turned over 2 years old a few weeks ago, and honestly at this point it’s about time for the demo to go, y’know? Even if I wanted to add more to it, the source code is so fragile I’d probably break it! This new patch itself is a bit of a gamble to be honest, but I feel that its important enough to get it out there.
For PVP fans, U14P5 will be an essential upgrade, as it streamlines the PVP invitation process to something more like the full game. From now on, to PVP all you’ll need to do is click on a player and select “Invite to PVP”, or use the command /pvp and then type in their name like normal, and then an invitation will be sent to them! You no longer need to stand still and wait or even be in the same room as your desired opponent, you can continue to walk around as you please until they return the invite, in which case the battle will automatically begin!
Another major change is that skin LV will no longer be required for PVP. Now that the updates are officially done and the demo is as old as it is, PVP might as well just be opened up to everybody.
As for Chapter 1, don’t worry! This patch hasn’t distracted me from it, progress is still going well. I’ll speak a little bit more about it tomorrow for the final devlog of the year.
In other news, I’m aware that there was an issue with logging into the game and having the game disconnect often, and thankfully that issue has been resolved now thanks to Size43, so you should all be able to play normally again! Apologies for any inconvenience the issue might have caused!
