Updates!

Please use the .exe version of the game, thanks!

For around aboout a month my PC has been broken, therefor I’ve not been able to work on Stray From Home. In the mean time I had thought up of a different aim for the game. Infact, it’s still a little unclear in my head and I’m more of just designing new stuff and making it up as I go along.

Since then I have added many new features and items, such as:

  • Fully working, toggable, drag and drop inventory system

  • You’re now able to chop down trees, which drop 3-4 logs. The bigger tree drops 8-10 logs.

  • Tree’s now turn into stumps after you’ve cut them down.

  • You can pick up small rocks, which will be used later on in the game.

  • You’re able to find campfires (soon craftable).

  • You can add fuel (logs) to campfires, and they will burn away 1 log per minute.

  • A new animal in the game, Stek.

  • You can kill the Stek by kicking him, which uses a new player kick animation.

  • The Stek drops 1-2 pieces of raw meat, which you can put in a campfire. 10 seconds later it will pop out cooked.

  • Cooked Meat will give you +20hp, and will soon give you more stamina.

It’s only took me about a day or two to implement all of those new features. I plan on adding cloth next, which you will be able to shear from the Stek’s, and will make for a good start on making clothes and other items like bandages. The crafting system I have in mind is a bit sketchy, and I would like to learn a new way. Over all I feel pretty confident about the game, and about the developmnent of the game. I have lots of ideas I wish to implement, though I’m unsure what the main focus of the game will be. It’s definitely helped me learn a lot of things so far, so I will continue to do so.

Known Bugs:

  • when you’re inventory is full, sometimes dropped items bug out and fly away…

  • on the HTML 5 version, the player camera is a bit sketchy (use .exe)!!

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.

Shoobies leave a sticky trail of mucus in their wake, which can impede movement for any creature that steps in it.

Here's a peaceful little forest scene for this #screenshotsaturday, from the beginning of the game.

Hi everyone! I started to create some environment props for my new video game, here is a cozy house in the forest. I'm planning to switch from Unity to Unreal... Let's see what new challenges I have to face. Made in Blender and Substance Painter.
