I wrote this originally around 10 years ago. The original used JavaScript w/ PrototypeJS, HTML4 and CSS. There were no graphics at all — the zombies were the letter “Z”.
This week I came across the code and upgraded it to JavaScript w/ jQuery, HTML5 and CSS3. Added animated zombies! (re-animated?).
No canvas used - all done using divs and sprite maps.
