Our biggest update in a while just rolled out. Here’s what’s new.
— 📦 INVENTORIES —
Our biggest new feature is player inventories. On our backend, players now store items in their inventories and can access them in-game in the HUB level by pressing Tab.
— 👋 EMOTES —
Eventually, there will be several types of inventory items and equipment. For now, we’re starting with Emotes.
Press Tab in the lobby, and you will see your inventory’s Emote tab. By default, characters come with 1 Emote (Wave), and it is unequipped. Hover it to preview it, click to equip. This will bring up the Emote wheel; select a slot and that’s it. To unequip, select the same slot again.
— 🤖 DISCORD BOT —
You’ve probably seen our new bot, Rupert. His status shows the servers’ online status, and how many people are in queue. He also posts match results in the ⚔️matches channel.
— 🛡 PALADIN —
Yes, the Paladin is back. Since he was last worked on, many generalized character systems have changed, so I’m getting him back to baseline. Notes:
All of his Weapons now work with our new system
Refactored some weapon code to work with “dual wielding” (like his shields)
Refactored some VFX weapon code to work with “dual wielding”
Added the new weapon trail system to all of his weapons
Added his default Wave emote
Updated some of his SFX
— 🎮 GAME STUFF —
Matchmaking server timeout check is now 5mins, instead of 30s
Sprint-Jumping now costs the same amount of Stamina as regular jumping
New sound for failed to activate ability (cooldown, etc)
New sound of “out of Stamina”
New sound for “gained Stamina” (from an effect)
New sound for when you are “Immune” to an effect
New sound when swapping a hero in Hero Select
— 🐞 BUGS —
Fixed an error where logging in could timeout but not actually produce an error
Fixed a bug where Meteor’s damage could sometimes not apply
Fixed a bug where certain pickups were resetting incorrectly
Fixed a bug where Volley was not damaging players under certain line of sight conditions
Fixed a bug where client sessions were not ending upon Logout
Fixed a bug where the Hero menu and Options Menu could collide
Addressed a bug where players could fail to start a match due to not sending their MM ticket. Still looking into this
Rewrote the inventory caching entirely. It should be more stable now
— 🔧 MISC —
Abstracted a “Tabs” UI component for re-use & replaced everywhere
Abstracted a “Scrollbox” UI component for re-use & replaced everywhere
Added an outro animation to the Hero menu
New scoreboard icons were added for all statistical categories
