Hello! I'm here to bring v2026.4.2, an update that adds Steam support, more features, and fixes some bugs:
Additions (Features):
Game Over Screen: You can die now! No, seriously; there's a new game over screen with a sick transition of glass breaking and a Not Responding fake-out whenever you die and the grayed-out currently option to retry the level you were playing or quit out to the menus or the Sunrise Editor if in Editor mode. Now featuring a track previously gone unused in v2026.4.0 and v2026.4.2!
Half-Scale Windowed Mode: For those with smaller displays (such as a laptop), you can resize the game window to be half of the standard 1366x768 window size. This won't apply in fullscreen mode nor borderless fullscreen mode.
Verbose Logging: Logging actions and functionality in-game has gone extremely verbose as everything is now dumped into a "latest_log.txt" file. Careful however, as this file gets overwritten at startup currently! The log file includes things such as: the Input extension's logs, connections with GameJolt, toasts appearing at the bottom of the screen, and internal errors / game crashes.
JPEG Screenshots: In the Options menu, the ability to take screenshots in JPEG format is now available. Pressing F2 with this option enabled will take the screenshot in JPEG format instead of the lossless PNG format.
Menu Music Playlist: The Main Menus will now cycle through multiple tracks instead of looping the same one over and over, with a new guest musician track: "Star Rise", by Soba Noodles
Additions (Technical):
More audio files have been set to "Compressed" format
Reduced installer file size (as a direct result of the above)
Added WinAPI Extension and the "Close Sunrise?" warning module whenever the native Window Close button is clicked
Added Steam API support + in-game options that open your Friends List, the Sunrise Workshop, & the Sunrise Steam Community page (if playing on Steam)
Tweaks + Changes:
Version Information was Updated (v2026.4.1 -> v2026.4.2)
Adjusted the positions of the Main Menu buttons
Reversed the order the Main Menu buttons will slide into frame
Added a small notice that most options are currently in the works and won't do anything into the Options Menu
Tons of other small tweaks and fixes ;)
Bug Fixes:
The "Welcome to Solaris" GameJolt exclusive achievement is now actually given to you whenever you link Sunrise to GameJolt
Fixed a bug where you could click through the dialog module and click one of the Main Menu buttons
Fixed a crash where saving a level through the "You have unsaved changes!" dialog would read from an invalid variable
Removals:
Deprecated the old Volume Control with 5 possible increments controlled via PgUp and PgDn
