Version 2.0 is out!

Version 2.0 of A Traitor’s Tale is out today!

It has two new ASCII art minigames and a few new “classic” text adventure areas where you are free to roam around and interact with the objects around you. There are also more areas in the game (like Elijah’s jobs), bug fixes, and an ending screen. Your mementos and secrets are saved to file at the ending. The whole game is now a story told by Jim Johnson, since the game was renamed “A Traitor’s Tale”.

In this time, I’ve also solidified a bunch of ideas that I’ve had for the game, such as the history of Tebro, and an over-arching mystery that can be solved. Now I am much more sure about the direction this game is going.

The way I add new dialogue to the game has also changed quite a bit since the last versions of the game. Now I am able to create minigames and special dialogue faster and more easily.

However, there is still much more work to be done to this game. I’m sorry to say it, but since I am going to college this fall, it may be a couple years before this game is completely done. :/

The Real Mt. Tom Mt. Tom and other places in _A Traitor’s Tale_ are based off of real life places near where I live. Here’s an actual picture of the “short but steep” and “easy but long” trails found at the beginning of the game:

Shoobies leave a sticky trail of mucus in their wake, which can impede movement for any creature that steps in it.

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.
