Vlad’s not really a bad guy, he just wanted to help his people get back on their feet! =P
Truth be told, what I INITIALLY had planned for Vladimir was a little more original than what the final game showcased. In the beginning (before the final-final version), Vlad was trying to summon the Goddess of Darkness from the other world so he could kill her and have vengeance for what she put his people through. It would take several (re:thousands) of sacrifices, but he did it for the greater good of the world. If she was slain there would be no worry of her ever being born onto Tsufana. But the party would have killed him before he was able to do this, leaving the ending to be a TAD more… unsatisfying? It just wouldn’t feel right.
So then I changed it so that he was attempting to summon her back simply because he thought she was the sole reason his people became as great as they did, and without her guidance they’d never attain that position again.
So in the end I wanted the players to actually feel like HEROES, not villains like the original ending may have had some people thinking.
Ohhh how things change. I love hearing about things like this, so here’s my share.
