We can draw a parallel between Eryon's and Shadow's creations. Both were created in a lab by two closer relatives. Eventually, Shadow became a rival but remained in control. Eryon went out of control, committed atrocities, and was destroyed in the end.

This guy finally has a name, Eryon. A name that defines his nature of an experiment.
It's a parallel with Dr. Gerald and Shadow. Except that Ivo's creation went out of control and his grandpa's later became Sonic's ally.
