Pearl is a 9 year old female who wears a mask due to her classmates shaming her appearance. One day, she was chased to the mountain by her classmates, where she climbed, tripped, and fell in.

Frisk went down the path Frisk did in Undertale, but meeting a different set of Monsters. She fell into a hole in the Ruins and lost her ribbon, and she discarded her toy knife for a toy hammer.

She was a pacifist, and halfway through Hotland, she took off her mask from gained confidence. However if this were pictured, we the player wouldn't see her face.

The group would make it to Asgore, where Asgore commands the monsters to leave, and Asgore takes Pearl's soul.

Her story's lesson is that your appearance doesn't matter, which is why her face would never be shown.
