Hey Space Octopus Fans,
Many of you have told us you want more and a finished game, and we agree. Thank you for all those who have played, created videos, and left us comments. The reception to this year’s Asylum Jam has been incredible. We loved making this game. It was in some ways the greatest challenge for us yet. We scoped very well for getting content in the game, but this was the first time we had built systems like this and it proved harder than to be expected. We learned a lot and definitely want to deliver on what our pitch idea was for when we started making it.
What does finishing the game mean?
Having multiple satisfying endings
Creating a more natural dialog system
Adding in the story and content we didn’t have time to hook up
Adding a few more features
Polishing it to make it feel as good as possible.
What is this not going to be?
Creating a very long game with a ton of new content
Do You Copy? was made with the idea that it would be a short game. We want to add to it, but not have it overstay its welcome. We want this to feel like a polished short film instead of a mediocre feature length one. We want every moment to be a great one. The final game will be longer, so don’t worry about that. But plan for more of a 20-30 minute experience than multiple hours. And hopefully will better choice and multiple ending, you will want to play it again to see what else could happen.
Again from all of us, thank you for all the amazing support this game jam. Seeing people enjoying what we do makes us come back each year.
Once some work starts on updating the game, there will be updates here.
Have a great day,
-Space Octopus Studios
