I’ve just finished watching Weapons in theaters, and I have to say, it was absolutely phenomenal. The storytelling is remarkably well-constructed, seamlessly transitioning between each character while giving them all meaningful significance. Every perspective feels essential to the overall narrative, especially that of the main character, whose arc ties everything together beautifully. The way each viewpoint interlocks to shape the story’s conclusion is nothing short of masterful.
I also want to commend the entire cast for their exceptional performances. Each actor and actress delivered with conviction and emotional depth, elevating the film to another level entirely. There’s one particular scene, one I’ll refrain from describing in detail due to its grotesque and deeply unsettling nature, which I’ll simply refer to as ‘the husband’s curse’, that stands out as a defining moment in both horror and emotional impact.
The main antagonist, in particular, is outstandingly written. She is one of the most enigmatic and haunting witches I’ve ever seen portrayed on screen. What makes her character so compelling is the film’s refusal to fully explain her motives, specifically, why she cursed the children and confined them beneath Alex’s parents’ basement. This deliberate ambiguity invites viewers to interpret and theorize, sparking ongoing discussion and ensuring the film’s lasting presence within the horror community.
