I’m thinking about spending some time updating you guys on what’s actually happening with the game, even if I don’t release a new update of the game.
First off, I wanna be honest - I haven’t worked with the game a lot this week. Vacation is over and I’m back to work, so I haven’t had the energy to continue with the same pace as I had during the summer.
I have found a lot of Necken videos, and each one make me super happy to watch, even if they sometimes don’t like the game at all. Seing people taking their time to make and upload a video playing a game that I actually made is awesome, fucking love it =D
Here’s a playlist I put together with all of the Necken videos
that I could find, check it out!
For Alfa 6, I’m currently working on separate tile sprites for the inventory, the shop and the smith menus, but I haven’t figured out a way to make it look good yet, in combination with the items. The items so far are pretty much based on a green background, so many of the items look really bad on a brown background (the inventory and wood color). I’m working on a way to make it look better, and will hopefully not have to make the items outlined or something like that.
I’ve found a couple of bugs as well by watching the videos, so they are also on my todo list.
I also have a few ideas of how to get the game easier to get into. I’m considering removing the hammer table tile and instead putting the hammer in the Smith layer, and also adding some kind of in game tutorial, either as a separate level or before the game starts.
