FAQ

What's this?

Art Weeklies! Weekly themes to get your artistic flow going (more info at the question below)

How does this works?

Every friday (as long as it is friday in UTC-3 time), new themes will be uploaded (and featured) by @ArtWeeklies in the "Themes" channel, from there people upload their art pieces based around one or more of those themes in the "Submissions" channel, where they may get featured in that time, until Friday comes by again, and the process repeats.

Why did you do this?

I've always loved dailies challenges, they're great and helps me to push through, but I always felt a bit too limited with the time constraints, not to mention that more often than not, I want to do them in a medium that isn't allowed. Art Weeklies was made with the intention to give enough time for you to do art in any art medium you wish to (yes, including music... No, not AI), along with various themes that you can either combine, or make separated entries for one, two, or all of them.

Why do it in GameJolt?

From my time in here, I've seen a growing art community, many artists that are pushing the boundaries of the classic art mediums, along with a lot of other artists that contribute great pieces in here, so I wanted to help them push through if they don't know what to draw, while also giving them enough time to do so. Also, I feel like GameJolt's community features are great for this idea. If there's a lot of traction, I might consider doing these in other places, but for now GameJolt will work just fine.

What Art Mediums are allowed?

Low-spec art, digital art, traditional art, 3D art, music (if the themes gives you an idea for some tunes)... Basically anything BUT "AI Art" or crypto stuff (blockchain, nfts).

When will new themes be uploaded?

Every friday in the "Themes" channel, as long as it is friday in UTC -3 time.

I missed last week's themes. Can I still do them and share them here?

After the new themes have been shared in Friday, you're still allowed to make and finish the themes of last week until Saturday Night (23:59) in UTC-3 time. After that, only the current themes will be allowed for the rest of the week.

Can I do multiple themes in one piece? What about doing separated pieces for each theme? or just combining some of them?
You can do all of those, go wild with your imagination.

Can I suggest themes?

Yeah! Just share them in the "Suggestions" channel, and it might get picked!

Can I upload my art that isn't related to the Weeklies here?

Sorry but no, this community is focused on the Weeklies. Off-Topic art will be removed.

Who's the character at the community icon?

They're Wiksy, the mascot of Art Weeklies.

What will happen to the Low Poly/Voxel Art community?

Nothing, really. Both Art Weeklies and the Low Poly/Voxel Art community have different purposes, and will keep existing together.

This article will keep being updated as new changes are made.

Last Update: December 15, 2023.
