Dead Containment Devlog 01
Mega Overhaul
As some of you may have seen, Dead Containment is getting an overhaul to bring the game up to a higher quality as well as adding new features such as multiplayer. Work has been going steady and everything is coming along nicely with a beta release due May.
New Gameplay Features
Dead Containment has been rebuilt from scratch to allow for a whole range of new features and fixes for old bugs. One of the new features is the auto focus camera, which targets enemies in close proximity to the player. You can see an early version of this in the Gif below.
Another new feature is multiple weapons which players can switch through in-game. Currently included are a magnum pistol, SMG and shotgun. Each weapon is balanced with unique stats to give each gun a purpose for the situation.
Multiplayer
One of the most exciting additions to Dead Containment is online multiplayer. 2 players can work together through the game and blast away at the undead. Everything is sync'd up from each others screens, including the guns, cross hairs and effects. This was made specially to replicate the old school style arcade games where players would share 1 screen with light guns.
Improved Audio and Visuals
The original release of Dead Containment used audio from the House of the Dead games due to it being an educational piece. Now each sound has been replaced with higher quality, original sounds which give enemies and weapons some character. Of course the 'RELOAD' sound will also return.
New Level
Finally is the new level for Dead Containment. When the overhaul update is released, the police station level will be replaced with a prequel level set in a skyscraper during the first hour of the outbreak. The aim of this level is to create a backstory to the world of Dead Containment. The police station level will return at a later date after it has also been overhauled.
Thank You
To end this devlog is a thank you to all the thousands that have played Dead Containment and encouraged me to continue work on this. Without you the game would have been buried in some folder somewhere, never to be seen again.
I plan to do more blogs like this in the future and show off some more, unseen features coming to Dead Containment. Until then....
