The End of GameMakerServer
Many of you may know that at very soon, GameMakerServer, the extension I used to create this game, will be shutting down for good.
I've talked with the creator, Size43, and have been told that he'll likely be keeping things up until the end of 2025, but the problem remains.
What does this mean for Five Nights Together? Well, I've spent a long time thinking about it, looking over my options, and I've decided that I will NOT be moving forward with Update 1.6 as I had planned...
...because instead I'll be working on Update 2.0
Update 2.0
Five Nights Together is officially being recoded from scratch with a new multiplayer engine known as GMNet, which will allow me to give players the option of creating LAN or Online Lobbies.
With this new system, Five Nights Together will never have to worry about shutting down ever again.
The game will not be TOO different. But this gives me the opportunity to fix some of the less optimized things I wouldn't have been able to before, and to give everyone a more fine-tuned experience overall.
Which leads me into my next point.
LOOKING FOR A NEW UI DESIGNER
One of the biggest things I haven't been happy with for a while is the UI. I never had any planning for it and just lazily threw something together.
If you know anyone that would be able to help me design some stunning new menus and popups, have them apply here: https://forms.gle/AoJ1KxSLyp8NnuQo8
Newly Revamped Discord Server
In some final news, I have recently revamped the "Five Nights Together" Discord Server into a bigger, broader server where I will be managing ALL of my projects moving forward.
Come follow the progress of the big 2.0 update, join events, and find people to play the game with! https://discord.gg/qGWF7Ygd83
Alright that's all for now! There will be a new patch in the coming days that will give you the option to sync all of your save data into Gamejolt. This is how saves will be handled in the new version, so I'll be able to carry that over.
So I'll see you then!
