(No this isn't an Aprils Fool, this is an actual update. This day is just fitting because its a game about a circus)
TL;DR: looking to get a new PC, once that happens, the game will undoubtedly be done in less than 2 month.)
Three Random Archives started development in 2019 and didn't see a demo release until December 2021, followed by various QOL (Quality-of-life) and a steam demo release in 2023. Since that release all my time and resources has been poured into getting the actual game out!
Development on Archive #1: Hail to The Jester has been wrapped up and will continue receiving QOL, polishing, and bugtesting up till release.
Development on Archive #2: Coming Home is nearing the end of its development half, and should be roughly complete and finalize at the end of this month.
Development on Archive #3: Hide and Seek has went through 3 complete do-overs, as getting the vibe, gameplay, horror aspect down to how I envision it has been a real challenge. Especially for the survival horror experience I wish to create.
Quick reminder but, Archive #1 and #2 aren't horror stories.
Archive #1 has very intense, dark, and albeit "maybe" scary moments. But it isn't meant to be as its more so supposed to be psychological, as each minigame is supposed to be in its own genre.
Archive #1: Arcadic action game
Archive #2: Narrative-driven experience (not a lot of gameplay as its more so a visual novel.)
Archive #3: Survival Horror (not as complex or detailed as Resident Evil or Crow Country but more so a "beginner's entry" to the genre.)
Back on topic, fortunately, I finally figured it out and will be starting development on it when I can effectively work on it. Which Segway us into the next topic.
TRA is being developed on a very, very, old and slow PC. Both Archive #1 and #2 took a very hefty amount of time to craft and finish. Between 6 - 10 months, along with unforeseen events that could occur disrupting development.
Both minigames that, under a different scenario would legitimately take me under 2 months to finish. (I can make games really fast.) H&S is a bit twice as long as those two (can't really provide a rough estimate for how long they both are.)
If the same development cycle holds true for this one, the game as a whole probably won't see a release until the tail end of this year or early next. I have a very specific release window in mind and I hope I could hit it.
This is where Showtime's Up! comes into play. Aside from it being a project being made to keep me from going insane making TRA, its a game that serves multiple purposes.
One of them is a funding campaign, used to gather funds to buy a new PC, so I can actually finish this game much faster. If all goes well, I will have SU finish this month, and TRA could be finish by June/July!
The remaining requirements left for TRA would be creating all the random events that could occur, finishing H&S, animated jumpscares, and lastly replacing all the in-game music with original composition. Once those conditions are met, the trailer will go live and the game will drop on the same day!
Thank you for your continue support and we're closer with each day! See you April 7th in-game special look!
