Where Was The Old Fan-Movie At

I Quote from The Tomee Bear

"This was originally going to be a quick face-to-camera video but I put it off for so long and at this point I feel like just putting it all out there in text form. So if you hadn’t heard already, yes, the Eddsworld Fan Movie has been cancelled. The news was broken to the world via a livestream on September 13, but the film itself was officially cancelled some time in either August or July for general legal and logistical reasons. The specifics were left pretty vague, understandably so, but it’s not too hard to speculate on. Eddsworld as a brand is back in action, making cartoons and illustrations and merch, so it’s more important than ever for Eddsworld Incorporated to protect their intellectual property. I can think of a number of companies that’ve been too generous with handing out their licences, leading to products that damage both the reputation of the company and IP’s image overall. Though the movie was never an official product, I could see it confusing those not in the know, and if the film turned out to be bad then that would be a pretty bad look. Is that why the film was cancelled, IDK, I’m not part of the project. It really is a tragedy though. As I said in the comments I made on my own videos, I want to express my deepest sympathies to the crew. They worked so hard on this project for so long, and I can absolutely understand how difficult this has to be. And for those curious, no I don’t know anyone on the creative team personally, but I exchanged messages with a couple of crew members when putting together a video about the film and they seemed to me to be incredibly kind, hard working and professional people, I have absolutely no complaints about my brief time speaking with them. Returning to the movie itself, we finally know what the plot for the movie would have been. Pip went into some detail on the stream that's up on their channel and it definitely sounds like it would have been a fan pleasing romp through the Eddsworld universe. We can never know exactly how close the final version would have been to the rough plot summary we were given, or indeed how well the comedy would have been incorporated into the story. But in my personal opinion, it sounded like a pretty fun story and the writers clearly know how to make things funny. There was talk in the stream about maybe salvaging stuff from the project to make a new movie or a new show using the original elements they had ready. I’m unsure whether that’s still going ahead for reasons mentioned in the livestream, but I’m certainly curious about what’s to come. I really love the sound of the team releasing all the movie assets to the world in some form. The possibility of that going ahead was mentioned and that would be such a silver lining to this whole situation. I love looking at concept art and test footage and being able to look behind the scenes. And seeing what remains of the film I think would be so interesting and maybe a little bit sombre as well, having this forever unfinished piece of media preserved in such a way. All the work has been archived and is probably sitting in some folder somewhere, but releasing it all could be a bit of a legal minefield. Everything that happens from here on out will have to go through Matt, so I’ll have to keep that in mind. The only thing that came out of the livestream that I do have a problem with was the decision to delete the Discord Server. Now I don’t actually use discord myself, but I think that flat out deleting it was the wrong move to make. I think it should have been archived in some capacity. Restrict new posts and stop accepting new invites but keep all the conversations and artwork where they are, at least for a little while. I get that deleting the server on stream was a fun moment for some people and maybe this is just me being too much of a preservationist, but I can imagine that it’s not what a lot of people wanted. But all that aside, I want to take a moment to really thank everyone who worked on the film. You guys have all given so much to this community and I’m so incredibly grateful for what you’ve done for us. You all deserve the best, and I wish you only success and joy in your current and future creative projects, I really do."

So yeah I will be bringing back the Eddsworld Fan-Movie as a Eddsworld X Jolly Horrors Film, that you all may know as Eddsworld: The Jolly Chronicles, which will have so many changes with lots of new stuff to add here
