Who am i?

About me

Having started this blog with the game idea and being new to blogging i feel i have fail to introduce myself properly, so with mentioning the Square i will give a brief introduction of me self.

I left school at 15, having finished my exams further education never interested me, in reality i never felt smart enough or driven to further my education. I began my work life in retail, earning money which for a 15 year old was perfect, following this i have worked in various jobs from retail to care work and as a driver for many companies through agencies. In 2009 i gave up working to allow my wife to further her career in nursing and to make sure my children had the best start they could.

In 2010 i decided it was time to look at my job prospects, the UK had hit a recession and low paid jobs were becoming difficult to acquire, i discussed this at length with my family and decided now was the time to go to collage, thanks to a NC (National Certificate) course i would be able to enter a course at a proper recognizable level, so i entered the Computer Games Development course and found a passion for coding, i then went onto complete the HNC and HND courses respectively, this allowed me to progress to the third year of the University course which i am all but finished only one more exam stands in the way of me gaining my Bachelors Degree, something i honestly thought i would never say.

During my time on the course i have met so amazing people, in fact me and a friend +John Macleod who are of similar age and who have the same goals created our indie games group Prickly Productions, we originally set up a website and had planned to use it as a portfolio piece for our creations, as we grew and our skill base and confidence rose we decided to give the indie scene a try.
We made our first game in 2011 Nightmare Island text adventure and later had it published via Desura. We have struggled over the years trying to figure out the business end of the games market and to date have not made a single cent….. not important yet right we do something we love. I have more recently added two android games to my CV Blappy Bat and Chicken Run.

I have quite a few prototypes of games i have been working on, some are even just games i made when learning a new programming language, you can find these on Game Jolt a great site for indie titles.

As my degree is now nearly over it’s about time I actually focused properly on not just making games and publishing them, but actively trying to make money from them so that I can sustain myself and my family I will also use this blog to document my progress in this regard. Thank you for taking the time to read this and if this sounds like something you’d be interested in following then please do like / follow / +1 etc. Next entry will focus on the Square game development again. Thanks James

Let me introduce you to the new Mech line: Gendai Spec. Those are Mech that specializes in surprise attacks, covered operations, and stealth. They are equipped with melee weapons but one of Gendai's frames supports sniper rifles.
