So, have you ever read The Dark Knight Returns? I have, and i'm telling you, it was the best comic i've ever read. Written none other by Frank Miller back in 1986, it still manages to be a topical and fan favourite comic, and for good reasons. When i read this graphic novel i wasn't feeling like i was reading a batman comic, it felt like a reflection, a mirror to the world that was back then during Miller's times, it almost becomes a historical fiction if you ignore Batman and Superman. It feels real, i myself as a catholic really liked how Miller tackles religion in this comic, showing people which "believe" but really when chaos begins they show their true colours. This was a thing back then, and i'm happy that Miller talks about it through the story. When James Gordon told Yindel about the attack of Pearl Harbor, and how scared people were, but in the chaos, a figure stood up, to finally cleanse America in it's weakest state and make it win the war. He knew it was coming, He knew Batman was coming for that moment. But my favourite comic out of the 4 ones in the novel is the first one, and my favourite scene is the one where Batman finally sees Harvey/Two Face. For so long he's been seen with his face covered in bandages, leaving everyone thinking that he ruined his entire face, but when Batman unmasks him... He's fine. But Batman realizes that on the outside, his good side prevailed, but in humans, the outside never matters. Bats closes his eyes and realizes that Two Face has mentally been consumed by his bad side, and he can't be healed. Batman sees a reflection between him and Harvey, to Bruce Wayne, Batman is his inner demon and when he wears the suit, it dominates him. Bruce can't live without Batman and Harvey can't live without Two Face. The comic ends with Batman hugging Harvey. What do you think of this comic?
