Yandere Simulator 2: The Sequel - Did You Know?

Well, hello there!

It has been two weeks since I haven’t written another Devlog about Yandere Simulator 2: The Sequel - The Visual Novel. The game has been doing pretty well with Views and Downloads, and by the end of March, it will probably hit 10k Views. But, anyway…

There were A LOT of ideas that I had while I was developing the game. Everyone who played the game and got to the secret Chapter knows that I have been developing this game since September, and I made lots of Re-Writes. But… What was scrapped from the game?

Well…

It is time to tell the original ideas for the game.

  • MEGAMI SAIKOU WOULD BE THE MAIN VILLAIN. That’s right, folks. Megami Saikou was supposed to be the Antagonist of Yandere Simulator 2. She and the Saikou Family would have some kind of rivalry with the Aishi Family due to something that Ryoba Aishi did in the 80s while she was in Akademi Highschool. This idea was scrapped for four reasons: 1. If the game is called “Yandere Simulator 2”, it should take place after Yandere Simulator, not in the end of it. Episode 0 is named “Episode 0” for a reason: It takes place in the last week of Yandere Simulator. 2. We know absolutely nothing about Megami’s backstory, so it would be incredibly hard to give her a proper story that would make sense and interesting. 3. I wanted to give Info-Chan character development in the game, and the best way to do this was to put her as the Main Villain. And of course, I have done this. 4. I wanted to implement the romance moments between Yandere-Chan and Senpai, and having Megami as the Main Villain of the game wouldn’t fit with the romance.

  • THERE WOULD BE MORE FLASHBACKS WITH OSANA. In Episode 2, Senpai remembers a moment that happened when he woke up late and Osana was angry at him for making her waiting. This moment was in the game to show that Osana was important to him, and her disappearence made him sad, and to show to the Player that Yandere-Chan’s choices to kill everyone was never the right choice, and that she could never forget her past as The Murderer of Akademi Highschool. Little do people know that there were two more Flashbacks planned. One would be of Osana giving her food to Senpai at the rooftop, and the other one would be about her talking with Senpai near the fountain, while he was reading a book. Since these Flashbacks would be useless and would add nothing to the story, I scrapped the idea of two more Flashbacks.

  • THE PLAYER COULD PLAY AS THE JOURNALIST INSTEAD OF INFO-CHAN. After scrapping the idea of Megami as the Main Villain and putting Info-Chan as the Antagonist, it was time to decide which characters the Player could play as. Originally, the four playable characters were Yandere-Chan, Senpai, Ryoba Aishi And the Journalist. I thought that it would be interesting for the player to play as two characters in Akademi Highschool, and two characters in America. However, since he was more of a “Secondary Villain” in the game, and Info-Chan was supposed to be the Main Villain, I scrapped this idea and decided that the player could play as Info-Chan.

  • IT WOULD HAVE A LOT OF REFERENCES TO THE PREQUEL. As I said before, The Prequel and The Sequel are set in the same timeline, while Rise of Evil belongs to its own timeline. In The Sequel, there are a few references to The Prequel, such as the fact that Akademi Highschool started at March 24th (the same day as The Prequel), Yandere-Chan’s father not being aware of her daughter being an emotionless person, and how Yandere-Chan killed Osana (with a knife, the same way as she died in the True Ending of The Prequel). However, there would be more references to The Prequel. For example, there would be a reference to the Murderer that Yandere-Chan killed in Chapter 8 of The Prequel. This was scrapped because the game didn’t need more Backstory and Explanation, as The Sequel already had too much of this. Besides, a lot of people that played The Sequel must not have played The Prequel or never even heard of it, so making more references to it was useless.

Well, these were all the ideas that were scrapped. I hope you enjoyed reading about this!
