Yap and Yell: Going Forward

(just to get this out of the way, no that is not the name of a new game or anything)

I just wanted to take a minute to talk about Yap and Yell!

this is going to be me explaining the game, how it went, and what's next!

Fist off, I want to thank the contest winners from the end of last year again! I'm very sorry that I didn't get to the prize models yet, I've had a lot to work on in the past months, and I hope to get to them soon!

Second, I want to thank everyone who's played the game! I really didn't think it would gain a following of people with dedicated fans!

You guys were the reason I really wanted to make a sequel to the game (which I'm very sorry I canceled a few months ago, I just wasn't ready to make a sequel).

Although I've been working on original projects, and at times more light and colorful fangames for other franchises, I don't want to leave the Yap and Yell fans in the dust.

In fact, I want to tell a little story about its development...

Yap and Yell is a game I started working on in 2021, and released in 2022. It was a game that I made with some friends, because we wanted to make a game with the classic FNaF formula!

It wasn't until later in development (like a month before release) that I tied it to the actual fnaf lore... which now that I think of it, wasn't really the best idea imo.

The original idea was that the AI was going to mess up at night, causing the characters to freak out and target the player, however I tied it to FNaF's soul story to make it a bit more interesting for the classic players. However in doing so, while I'm very proud of how the current game is, it feels like I removed the creativity in the story I originally had.

I really did like what this change added though! It gave us Yell, a character who was named after the title, and was pretty much the main antagonist.

Before Yell, there was a giant Snow Man, the store was planned to have animatronics for holidays, and the Snow Man was going to be the big bad, but eventually was replaced with Yell.

Why am I bringing this up?

Well 2 reasons actually!

The Yap and Yell characters I'm making designs for to work better in more original projects, so they can be seen more often, and I can make more games that may feature them without it being tied to FNaF!

(I guess they're technically different characters? Just they look almost the same, with different names)

the 2nd reason...

Well, how would you feel if I told you I don't want to leave the horror fans out as well?

I have a plan for something!

Not a sequel, not an update, not DLC, just... something.

I don't want to spoil anything now, but I brought the whole story up for a reason. That reason being for you to expect something different in story if... anything... happens.

Not confirming something, or denying anything, so don't get your hopes up or anything yet. I just have... an idea.

That's all I want to say for now! Thank you for reading!

I thought this would be fun to model, and I've been in a bit of a FNaF mood again.

I was hesitant on showing an update on this right now, but I started working on the moveset part of this project!

(Also, it has dramatically changed since the last time I showed anything about this to the public)

Playing around with the new movement and it feels amazing to control. (This footage was taken when slopes were still a little broken, so animations might be iffy in this footage).
