Hello again! It's me, as usual, late, as always, bringing you some news regarding the state of PFR and its future.
And I shouldn't be trying to sound funny. I came here with some pretty bad news.
Getting to the point
Work has slowed down to the point where basically nothing is being done. And to be clear, it is my fault. TSEG could've very well been working on the game, but he couldn't. The reason being that I hold many important files which he does not have access to. Around a month's worth of work.
So what have I been up to then? To put it simply; Nothing. Or rather, I am working on a little something else since recently, a project which i plan to finish and stay true to my vision for it.
So yeah, I don't really want to be distracted by everything regarding PFR, but....
A bit of light within the dark; Grab that Flashlight again perhaps?
Although we have been against the idea the whole time, I think it is only fair to do the following; releasing an updated demo.
Now, there's a lot of clean up to do as well as cutting off access to unfinished features, but we could possibly make a new demo that could showcase the new stuff (but not all of it, maybe.)
The demo would contain the following major stuff;
Survival Mode Level 1
It is essentially the level you have all been well acquainted with thus far. But visually, it's been updated with better models and textures. The element of randomness (endos, shadow freddy) is also removed to make for a fair challenge.
Survival Mode Hardcore (Unlockable)
This one is pretty straight forward. If classic Survival Mode wasn't enough of a challenge for you, then prepare for absolute pain and suffering! It is pretty damn unforgiving, but possible nonetheless!
Endless Mode
If you want to compete and see who can hold the longest survival time, then try out Endless Mode! Thanks to an online leaderboard, try to compete for first place! (We will monitor scores to ensure none are cheated) ((GameJolt Login required for online features))
Now, there is also a few other differences to note;
Inventory
We do have a fully functional Inventory, and although we will not take full advantage of it for this demo, it will still be displayed! Remember that key you could find in the demo? Well now you'll be able to take a closer look at it, and even know more about what it's used for!
Flashlight Nerf
Flashlight now has durability. In order to recharge it, you will have to use batteries which are scattered around the level. The Flashlight is not crucial to survive (at least for now), but it can always be helpful for visibility and navigation.
O'Glowstick, O'come back to us!
Remember the Glowstick from the pre-Reboot era? Yup, it's back. Not that it'll be super useful, but you can always play around with it. Who knows, maybe you will find a use for it.
New power system
The power system was remade to be its own independent module. However, as it is not a direct port of the previous system, power consumption actually behaves differently. Thankfully though, we can easily readjust it without modifying the code. So should be too harsh, we'll be able to easily rebalance it. You will also get more power in endless mode.
A few other new things would be the new pause menu (which is still unfinished), and it comes with key rebinding! The system is still rather janky so try not to bind the same key to 2 different actions etc. Graphical options have glitched out for me, but they will still be included. However, if they don't work then i'm terribly sorry. Sound options might also be included but for the time being it doesn't save and it doesn't really apply to most sounds. Maybe it'll be done by the demo's release.
Now then, what about the full release, I hear you ask....?
Ambitions versus Reality
As my involvement will become smaller and smaller, some stuff will have to be cut. Most notably, the Multiplayer Mode.
Now, it isn't because it doesn't work, as a matter of fact, it does work (although STILL UNFINISHED). But the truth of the matter is, playing as an animatronic is simply. not. fun.
Due to that, Multiplayer is likely to not be included for the initial release. But adding it back within an update is never off the table.
And once again, no estimate for the full release.
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DEMO'S RELEASE DATE PLEASE JUST STOP NOT GIVING ESTIMATES
fair enough lol
If I get to actually send TSEG the code and stuff, and then do the fixes that need to be done, then probably this month. Maybe even in a week or two. Just please don't hope for it too much. I'm lazier than you think.
And with that, I'll leave y'all to it. cya later
