Before we get into the devlog, I just want to say that I've decided to stop making video devlogs and only post them here, so no link for this one.
Now, I unfortnently gave up on using GMS2 and have moved to Unity, which I've found is easier in terms of room design but surprisingly harder in terms of player animation and movement. But in the end I managed to:
Get a moving player (no proper animations yet, but an updated player sprite)
Constructed a starting room with various household appliances which looks like this:
Added collision to edges of the room and the couch, tv, fridge and backyard door
Finally, I made the fridge an interactable which gives an item when interacted with.
