I was born in the best decade for gaming, the 80's I know things have gotten much better now, but for gaming, the 80's was a magical time, I became obssessed with all the games I could get my hands on, by the time I was in my teens I knew what I wanted to do and attempted to make my own game with a freind from school. Sadly only had a limited time to work on it and it eventually was sidelined for schoolwork etc.
When I hit 16 and it was time to leave school I wrote off to a few games companies asking if there were any apprenticeship programs, SEGA and Sony replied with a bog standard "Come to one of our open events!" Well I was from a lower class family and these open events were in america. Plane tickets are expensive! A few of the others replied but the common response was they picked interns from a select few universities in the country.
To shorten this long story, I spent 6 years at college attending every computer course I could sign up for but when the funding runs out you have no choice but to get a job.
I worked at Game.co.uk stores for a while it was fun, until one of my lungs collapsed and I was hospitalised for a month, after the operation I had a lot of time on my hands while I healed so I thought why not try doing something with games again. The response amazed me... my other lung collapsed thankfully this time it's not life threatening but it does mean I am housebound until it either heals or pops fully!
So until then... GAMES!!!!!!
