how do i come out to my parents asking for a friend please uh tell me my friend really needs to know

My parents told me that pride isn’t really pride? Bc it’s not brave to just love another person or be like “ Oh that’s so brave of you! Or blah blah blah” but I don’t really know how to feel right now?
