VERSION UPDATE
Game compiled on updated version of UE 4.15, which improves visuals, reflections and overall performance
Fixed some of the previous issues
Assault AI doesn't seem to freeze anymore
Assault AI now behaves more aggressively
Sniper bullets will now always spawn
When in cover mode and aiming the player character doesn't suddenly switch sides anymore
Aiming camera slightly changed (pulled back a bit and moved slightly up, so the character's back doesn't take up so much of the screen area)
Player's gun sound changed to a heavier sound with more punch
Added shortcut keys for resolutions (F1 - 1280x720; F2 - 1600x900; F3 - 1920x1080)
Added small controls description box which can be hidden and recalled at any time by pressing H
These issues don't seem to happen anymore, but let me know if you happen to see them or find any new ones
Prototype of a side scroller I'm experimenting on with some cover and third person like elements mixed in. For now it is only designed to experiment with game mechanics and see what works and what doesn't.
Most assets (sounds, music, models) are placeholders and will be replaced should I decide to keep going with this project.
Music borrowed from Ghost in the Shell First Assault and a couple of sounds from Metal Gear Solid (1998).
I uploaded a 64 bit and a 32 bit version. I don't know how well the 32 bit version will behave as I don't have a 32 bit system to test it on.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Get used to the controls (enemies will ignore you)
Move to cover (character will snap to cover automatically)
Sprint or uncrouch to exit cover mode
Aim from cover to aim side ways
Fire at any enemy when you're ready to begin
CONTROLS:
A, D (move back and forward)
Right Mouse (Aim / press and hold)
Left Mouse (Fire)
Left Control (Crouch / Uncrouch)
Space (Jump)
Left Shift (Sprint / press and hold)
Alt + Enter (Fullscreen)
Esc (Quit)
P (pause game)
MECHANICS:
Shoot at any enemy to start the match
Time will count down once match starts
For every enemy killed you get standard 100 points (plus headshot and critical bonus when you get them) and extra 5 seconds to the countdown timer
Health will begin to recover if the player isn't hit for a few seconds
Every time an enemy is killed a new one is spawned
The spawned enemy will randomly select from three different behaviors (Assault, Cover, or Sniper)
There shouldn't be more than one sniper in the arena at any time (but sometimes that doesn't work 100%)
There shouldn't be more more than two or three cover enemies at any time (but again doesn't always work)
There will never be more than 5 enemies in the arena
Aiming to the side can only be done in cover mode
Player receives less damage in cover if hit
Player character will snap to cover mode automatically
UNRESOLVED BUGS:
when entering cover mode, player character crouches, but sometimes the speed is still set to walking or running speed.
if you place the cursor near the head at a certain position and aim, the player character twitches like crazy. Used to be much worse and started doing that as soon as you got the arrow near the character, now only does it in a specific position
