What do you think?

If you have already started playing and need to update the game due to the patches below, DO NOT delete your existing game file as this will erase your progress. Simply re-download the new ZIP file and extract the files to the same folder as the existing game. Then select 'Replace Duplicate Files' when it asks you about duplicate files (as you are trying to save the files to the same place). This will replace all changed files, but will keep your progress (i.e. you won't need to start again).

Cheers

VERSION 1.2.2 is now out (Patch):

I like it but i can only play night 1

"Congratulations! Your application for the night security shift at the Fazbear Research Centre has been successful. Your job is to analyse the brand-new line of animatronics before they are released to the Family Diners. Listen carefully to the recordings at the start of each night to find out what tasks you need to complete in order to finish your shift successfully. Watch out though, the animatronics have a mind of their own..."

What is this?

This is an original take on renowned horror game - Five Nights at Freddy's - with many completely new game mechanics and lots of things to keep track of. This is my first major project of any sort and took many months to complete alongside school studies and sports commitments. Please don't expect any sort of incredible life-like 3D graphics from this - I don't have very much experience with graphic design at all. This game was made purely using Python (Pygame Library) and hand-drawn, Photoshop rendered graphics - so I'm sure you'll appreciate there was no fancy game engine available to make life easier.

Downloading:

To play this game, extract the files from the zip folder that is downloaded. Open the folders and then run the 'FNAF_Research_Required.exe'. Please do not be concerned if this bring up your anti-virus system (any decent firewall should detect this problem) and allow the program to complete its scans - although I assure you that there are no viruses within the file.

Unfortunately, there is currently no available version for non-Windows OS (perhaps someone can notify me as to how make .exe files for other OS).

Game basics:

You will only need the mouse for this, and the Escape key can be used to exit the game at any point. The settings allow you to change both the screen size and the resolution - decreasing loading times and stress on your computer (although both of these shouldn't be a problem on any average PC). If the 'elevator' loading screen takes a while to complete (i.e. over 30 seconds) - or in the extremely unlikely event that the game crashes due to insufficient RAM - you may want to consider playing on a lower resolution or screen size by changing them in the settings.

Further help and tips are provided in the main menu section when you press 'Continue' - navigate the information provided using the side arrows. If you are struggling on a particular night, have a read of the 'Tips' for that particular night to get more of an insight on what to do.

If you encounter any problems or glitches with the game - make a comment and I will get round to fixing ASAP.

Legalities:

This is based on the Five Night's at Freddy's franchise - to which Scott Cawthon is the original copyright holder. Events from the original series are loosely referenced, however there is a completely new storyline incorporated within the game.

All in game images are self-drawn and rendered using Photoshop

Some sounds have been used from the original game, and the rest of the sounds are either free to use (referenced below) or self-recorded:
